Fans heartbroken as Celine Dion's sister shares she has 'lost control of muscles' due to health condition
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In a recent interview with Canada's 7 Jours website, Celine Dion's sister, Claudette Dion, revealed that the singer has "lost control of her muscles" due to the progressive deterioration of her muscles from stiff-person syndrome, according to the Daily Mail.
She said, "What breaks my heart is that she’s always been disciplined," adding, "She's always worked hard. Our mother always told her, 'You're going to do it well. You're going to do it properly'."
This revelation about Celine's current health condition comes after another music star, country music sensation Marren Morris, opened up about her struggle with postpartum depression.
Celine Dion dreams of returning to the stage
Claudette further mentioned that, despite the grim prognosis, Celine harbors a longing to return to the stage.
She noted, "It's true that in both our dreams and hers, the goal is to return to the stage. In what capacity? I don’t know."
Similarly, Madonna recently candidly opened up about her June health scare, expressing her belief that her survival is nothing short of a "miracle." Similarly, Australian singer-songwriter Kylie Minogue has bravely spoken about her fight against breast cancer.
In December 2022, Celine announced that she was compelled to call off the rest of her 'Courage' world tour due to a progressive and incurable neurological disorder she is battling, which affects muscles, including those of the vocal cords and heart, as per Page Six.
Unfortunately, the singer had to cancel her tour in May this year. "I'm so sorry to disappoint all of you once again," shared the 55-year-old singer on Instagram at the time, adding, "I'm working really hard to build back my strength, but touring can be very difficult even when you're 100%."
She further expressed, "It's not fair to you to keep postponing the shows, and even though it breaks my heart, it's best that we cancel everything now until I'm really ready to be back on stage again."
On a different note, rapper Daddy Yankee declared his retirement on December 3, stating that he’s dedicating his life to Christianity, with the poignant remark, "I was no one without him."

While speaking to 7 Jours, Claudette said, "The vocal cords are muscles, and the heart is also a muscle. This is what comes to get me. Because it's one out of a million cases, the scientists haven’t done that much research because it didn’t affect that many people."
