LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Music fans have speculated online that G-Eazy's verse in the remix of the K-pop band ATEEZ's song 'Work,' which features the rapper, is about his former girlfriend Halsey.

G-Eazy delivers a noteworthy line in the 'Part 4' remix of 'Work,' released on Friday, August 9, sparking conversations among fans.

'Work' topped the World Digital Song Sales chart in June, marking ATEEZ's first number-one on the ranking, per Billboard.

Fans believe G-Eazy dissed Halsey in ATEEZ's single 'Work'

Halsey and G-Eazy do not have a cordial relationship. There has been tension between the two artists ever since their relationship ended in 2018 after they began dating in 2017.

In the years since G-Eazy has been very outspoken about his relationship with Halsey. As a result, fans believe the Oakland rapper may have made a jab at Halsey in part of his most recent song.

G-Eazy contributed a verse to the English version of AZEEZ's song 'Work.' While the verse may seem unremarkable at first listen, a few lines stand out as potentially referring to Halsey.

In the song's second verse, G-Eazy speaks about an unnamed woman. He boasts about his dominance in the Bay Area but then delves into much more detail in the following lines.

In the remix of 'Work,' rapper G-Eazy, 35, raps: "Actin’ innocent, no, it’s not your first time/We’re far away if Libra is her sign/ Oof, danger, danger (Danger, danger)/Don’t be a stranger (Don’t be a stranger)/ She said no one can save her."

Notably, this type of content is consistent with what G-Eazy has often rapped about. However, the specific details in this verse are what makes listeners take notice.

Halsey is a Libra because her birthday falls on September 29. The remainder of the lyric might therefore be interpreted as a criticism of the singer and her interactions with G-Eazy.

G-Eazy previously threw a harsh dig at Halsey in his 2019 song 'I Wanna Rock'

The celebrities enjoyed a highly publicized relationship from 2017 to 2018 before their sudden split in July 2018. Although neither artist has revealed the exact reason for their breakup, fans infer from their music that it reflects the end of their relationship.

The rapper had previously expressed scathing opinions on Halsey in a 2019 song. He made a somewhat rude jab at the musician in his 2019 song 'I Wanna Rock.'

He dismissed their entire romance, rapping, "No Limit, all I got is Me, Myself & I / When I said it's her and I, that sh*t was a lie." Additionally, G-Eazy released a whole album of diss tracks in 2020.

Another G-Eazy song 'Had Enough' also alludes to Halsey and their relationship, with G-Eazy rapping, "All them lies that you was tellin’ on me. Hoping I lose, you hope an L is on me."

"She would tell anybody, she’ll go and tell her homie. She would go on TV, she go on Ellen on me," he added.

Eventually, Halsey responded to the criticism with her tracks 'Die for Me' and 'Without Me.'

How G-Eazy and Halsey went from couple goals to splitting up

While Halsey and G-Eazy started dating in 2017, neither has disclosed to the public why they broke up in 2018.

However, Halsey gave a brief reflection on the split in a 2019 interview with Cosmopolitan, stating, "If the worst thing that’s happened to me so far is I wore dumb clothes and dated a s**tty dude, I think I’m doing all right."

In July 2020, an insider told Us Weekly that the rapper was "in a much better headspace" following his split from Halsey, characterizing their union as "toxic, especially toward the end."

"Gerald has a much more positive outlook on life now and has been healing through music. He has spent much of the pandemic in his home studio, whether he’s writing and recording new songs or just playing around and experimenting. It’s been a real creative breakthrough," the source revealed at the time.

Though the specifics of their relationship are unknown, fan theories have led to several conclusions, one of which is that one of them was cheating, a theory that has gained a lot of traction on social media.

The tweets that followed her split have led many to believe that he cheated on her. Fans immediately connected Halsey's scissor emoji from July 2020 to the line from his song 'Him & I,' which reads: "If I ever cheated she would try to cut my d*** off."

The famous nursery rhyme 'Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater' was sometimes repeated as "Cheater Cheater Pumpkin Eater," therefore when the post was later deleted, it was replaced with another cheating reference, "pumpkin eater."

The couple had reportedly experienced a number of "ups and downs" over the previous year, according to an insider. However, E! News reported that their busy careers were the primary reason for their breakup.

The insider told the publication, "They both tried to remain strong to ensure their work commitments together went smoothly, but ultimately called it quits after too much fighting."

"The trust was lost between the pair when they were apart, and it got too difficult for both of them," the source said at the time.
