‘He’s human’: Fans support Jason Derulo after criticism for halting concert mid-song for bathroom break

LEEDS, UNITED KINGDOM: Jason Derulo, who is currently on his world tour abruptly stopped his concert in Leeds to relieve himself from a sudden urge to pee. Derulo later posted a video documenting his dash to use the bathroom.

Ever since the clip went viral, Derulo received backlash from people for pausing his concert in the middle of a song, however, his fans supported him by slamming the concertgoers. 

Jason Derulo paused his concert in the middle of a song 

In the middle of performing his new track 'Spicy Margarita,' Derulo informed his fans that he had to use the bathroom before he rushed backstage to urinate into an empty Gatorade bottle.

The 34-year-old asked, "Do you mind if I just go use the bathroom real quick?" However, the crowd showed their discontent. Derulo, who had a performance in Australia last year, then swiftly concluded his restroom break backstage while footage of the audience anticipating his return was displayed on screen.

After finishing in the bathroom, he handed the bottle to an assistant, who placed it alongside several other Gatorade beverages.



 

"Alright, back to the show!" Derulo exclaimed as he made his way back to the stage, greeted by cheers from his fans.

In the clip shared by Derulo on X, a hand is seen reaching for the Gatorade bottle that Derulo had just used. Derulo's team tries to intervene as he reaches for the bottle.

For the remainder of March, Derulo will be touring Europe as part of his 'Nu King' global tour. He is now in the middle of this trip.

Beginning on May 17, the 'Talk Dirty' singer will return to the United States to perform as a resident in Las Vegas. He will be appearing at the Venetian Resort from May through July.

In addition to his ex-partner Jena Frumes, Jason is also a father to his two-year-old son, Jason King.

Fans support Jason Derulo for pausing his concert 

Numerous social media users criticized the concert attendees, referring to Derulo's need to use the restroom as a "nature call."

A Facebook user wrote, "Listen, when nature calls we go! At least he politely said it. I would be happy just to see him!"

The next user said, "Man sometimes it hits and you can't control it. They're seriously mad at him for needing to use the bathroom?" 

Another user said, "You people kill me! He just had to use the bathroom. You don't know the situation. Jeez we are all human!" [sic]

One more user wrote, "Humanity is going." Another user said, "He's only human!"

The next user said, "But he would have been wrong if he just left the stage and they didn't know why. Ppl are a mess. Smh."

A user also said, "When you gotta go you gotta go bruh, don't bust your bladder or intestines." 

A user wrote, "He asked nicely why not he may have a stomach virus I respect dude for not letting it loose on the stage cause some

will."
