Hilaria denies being an attention seeker, says her ‘mob wife’ look was a strategy to protect Alec Baldwin

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Hilaria Baldwin is shedding light on how she has navigated intense media scrutiny, particularly in the wake of her husband Alec Baldwin’s legal troubles.
Speaking on the March 16 episode of 'The Baldwins', the mother-of-seven acknowledged that dealing with paparazzi has been a challenging experience.
Hilaria Baldwin speaks out on paparazzi encounters

Speaking about paparazzi encounters, Hilaria admitted, “I know it’s better to disengage. Have I always disengaged? No. Have I had problems? Absolutely.”
One such moment occurred in January 2024 when Alec was charged with involuntary manslaughter for a second time in connection with the fatal 2021 'Rust' shooting.
Although the case was dismissed in July 2024, the media frenzy that surrounded the case was relentless.
Hilaria Baldwin's ‘mob wife aesthetic’ explained
Recalling one particularly chaotic morning when she was “mobbed” by photographers, Hilaria shared how she decided to shift attention away from Alec by wearing an eye-catching outfit.
A headline from that time read, “Brrr! Hilaria Baldwin Nails Mob Wife Aesthetic in Freezing Temps!”

While commentators speculated about her choice to wear a mini skirt, fishnet stockings, and a silver metallic jacket in the cold, Hilaria revealed that her look was a calculated distraction.
“Alec needed to try to get in the car, and to try to protect him, I went inside, put on a ridiculous outfit, and went back outside,” she explained.
“I mean, the fact that they didn't realize that I was messing with them is extraordinary,” she added.
Hilaria described how she positioned herself strategically, standing with her back to the paparazzi to block their view of the apartment entrance while a car arrived to pick up Alec.
“Alec goes into the car [and] drives off. Then, I walked right back to the house,” she said.
Hilaria Baldwin shuts down ‘attention seeker’ claims

Despite her explanation, Hilaria has faced criticism, with some labeling her an “attention seeker.”
She dismissed the accusations, insisting her actions were purely to protect her family.
“People call me an attention seeker, like they'll say all sorts of things because they don't understand what I'm doing, and so they think I'm nuts,” she said.
“And I'm like, you know what? Call me nuts, but I’m gonna take care of my husband and I’m gonna take care of my kids,” she added, according to People.
Alec Baldwin reflects on his paparazzi battles
Alec Baldwin also weighed in on his long-standing struggles with the paparazzi, acknowledging that his perspective has evolved over time.
“What are you gonna do now? You either punch every tabloid photographer, [but] the way the world is now, you’re going to be exhausted by the end of the day,” he said.
“If the guy’s taking a picture of my family from 75 feet away, when I was much younger, I would really, really let that bother me,” the 66-year-old actor shared.
However, after years of scrutiny and controversy, Alec admitted that his priorities have shifted.
“After everything we’ve been through, I just want to take care of my family. I want to be left alone,” Alec noted.
“I don’t want to say, oh, I can show you some yelling,” he said, adding, “But, I mean, you know, get a paparazzi in here who tries to chip my wife’s teeth with a lens of this camera, then you’re gonna see some yelling.”
