LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Cheryl Hines has left many in Hollywood stunned after what insiders describe as a “dramatic political shift” from proud Democrat to outspoken conservative.

The 58-year-old 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' actress, who has been married to US Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F Kennedy Jr since 2014, has drawn sharp criticism in the entertainment industry after publicly defending her husband’s controversial views during a recent appearance on 'The View.'

Hollywood insiders ‘can’t make sense’ of Cheryl Hines’ political shift

“It’s so hard to make sense of because she was so liberal before,” a longtime Hollywood friend reportedly told Page Six. “Now she’s married to a member of the Trump administration and defending his ridiculous stuff on 'The View.'”

Another insider described watching Hines back her husband’s comments on national television as “beyond comprehension.” “I watched that and thought, ‘Who are you and what have you done to Cheryl?’” the source said. “It feels like she abandoned what she believed to be with him.”

During the heated segment, Hines questioned why critics were dismissing her husband’s qualifications. “I don’t know how he’s less qualified than an economist,” she said, appearing to reference former Obama-era HHS head Sylvia Burwell.

“He has spent his career studying toxins, studying people’s health, fighting for one man who was using Roundup for his job,” she added, citing Kennedy’s legal victory in the 2018 case against the makers of Roundup weed killer.

When hosts Sunny Hostin, Joy Behar, and Whoopi Goldberg pressed her about Kennedy’s anti-vaccine stance, Hines didn’t back down. “Can we listen to parents who say, ‘My child got the vaccine and changed?’” she asked, urging empathy for families.

Former colleagues say Cheryl Hines is ‘unrecognizable’

A 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' crew member told Daily Mail that Hines’ views are now “unrecognizable” from the woman they knew when the show began in 1999. “She was 100 percent Democrat—standing up for women’s rights, LGBTQ rights, and liberal politics. Now she’s on the other side,” the source said.

The insider described her transformation as a sudden change that seemed to happen overnight. “I respect her right to have an opinion, but this is just crazy to me,” they added.

Friends question if Cheryl Hines ‘was always like this’

Those closest to Hines are reportedly torn between loyalty and disbelief. “It makes me wonder if she was like this all along or if something shifted in her ethics and morals,” another friend said. “At the time, her marrying a Kennedy made sense. But I didn’t see this coming.”

Cheryl Hines once distanced herself from husband’s views

Just two years ago, Hines took a very different stance, condemning Kennedy’s 2022 remarks comparing unvaccinated Americans to Holocaust victims. “My husband’s opinions are not a reflection of my own,” she said at the time, calling them “reprehensible and insensitive.”

That contrast is what now leaves many of her peers confused. “She’s gone from calling his comments offensive to defending him on national TV,” one insider said. “It’s surreal to watch.”
