Hugh Grant tells Jimmy Fallon why he finds Christmas 'creepy' as he professes his love for Blackpink
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In a recent appearance on 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,' Hugh Grant shared his rather unconventional feelings about the holiday season.
The actor humorously admitted, "No, Christmas has always given me the creeps, really. Even when I was a kid."
Hugh Grant's quirky Christmas antics
Grant, known for his wit and charm, recounted his childhood experiences, particularly his role in the nativity play at an all-boys school. "I went to an all-boys school, you know, very English thing. There's no girls. And when we did the nativity play, I was quite pretty. I was always Mary."
Recalling his aversion to the Santa Claus tradition, Grant comically expressed his discomfort, calling the notion of an "old pervert coming down the chimney" terrifying, even joking about wanting to borrow his father's shotgun to handle the imagined intruder. "I used to beg my dad to lend me his shotgun so I could shoot the bastard."
Despite his reservations about Christmas, Grant found himself caught up in the spirit while discussing his past job at Harrods, where he filled Christmas hampers.
"Well, we got silly and bored, and then we started packing each other into the hampers," he said.
He sheepishly admitted to engaging in mischievous antics with colleagues, including playfully packing each other into the hampers, resulting in a humorous mishap of one person getting delivered alongside the gifts.
"But there was one little guy from ladies' belts who did get delivered, actually."
Hugh Grant's surprising journey into K-Pop
However, despite his skepticism about the holiday, Grant found himself in a surprisingly different scenario: embracing the phenomenon of K-pop and, in particular, the girl group Blackpink.
He revealed his transformation from a skeptical parent to a fervent fan, thanks to his daughter who took him to a Blackpink concert.
He quipped, "I love Blackpink, Now I am, yes. I have a daughter who dragged me to this thing."
He further added, "But it was a huge concert in Hyde Park in London, and she took me along."
Describing the transformation of his daughter from a well-behaved child to a fervent fan during the concert, Grant humorously likened her enthusiasm to something out of "The Exorcist."
He confessed, "After an hour, I'm...yeah! Really? They are talented. Amazing, I love them."
Grant, who has recently garnered attention for his stellar performances in projects like 'The Undoing,' shared a lighthearted side of himself, expressing genuine admiration for Blackpink despite initially being skeptical of the genre.
