LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Hugh Jackman is reportedly left reeling after his ex-wife Deborra-Lee Furness spoke out about his alleged "betrayal" soon after her official divorce filing in New York on May 23.

Their divorce settlement terms, reportedly agreed upon by both, came two years after they announced their separation, officially ending their 27-year-long marriage.

Hugh Jackman ‘blindsided’ by Deborra-Lee Furness’ 'betrayal' remarks

Hugh Jackman was “blindsided” and “extremely disappointed” by Deborra-Lee Furness’s public comments, as reported by the Daily Mail.

The remarks surfaced after Furness earlier spoke to the same publication about her feelings following the split.

Furness described her split from Jackman as “a traumatic journey of betrayal,” a statement that appeared to confirm rumors of infidelity surrounding the 'Wolverine' star and his girlfriend, Sutton Foster.

Furness said, “I sympathize with all those who traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal,” adding that this painful experience is “a profound wound that cuts deep.”

Despite acknowledging her difficult feelings, Furness expressed gratitude for her time with Jackman, with whom she shares two children, Oscar and Ava.

She said, “I believe in a higher power and that God/the universe, whatever you relate to as your guidance, is always working for us.”

Hugh Jackman lived in belief Deborra-Lee Furness will never 'trash' him in public

According to the publication, Hugh Jackman felt "blindsided" by Deborra-Lee Furness' remarks, breaking their mutual understanding not to speak negatively about each other in public.

"There was no stipulation that she could not address this, but there was an unwritten understanding that she would not trash him to the press," the publication reported, citing a source.

The source added, "She got around this by not naming him, instead focusing on how she felt."

The source added that Jackman “knows that he cannot change anything and it is unfortunate that Deb feels the way she did given the fact that he caved in to all of her divorce requests.”

Furness’ comments on self-growth and learning from personal adversity were an apparent shade at Jackman's girlfriend, Foster.

“Even when we are presented with apparent adversity, it is leading us to our greatest good, our true purpose. It can hurt, but in the long run, returning to yourself and living within your own integrity, values and boundaries is liberation and freedom," Furness said in her statement earlier.

Deborra-Lee Furness made more remarks despite her and Hugh Jackman's 'sole statement' on split

In 2023, Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness announced their separation via a joint statement, calling it “a wonderful, loving marriage” and saying, “This is the sole statement either of us will make.”

However, Furness broke her silence with a statement to the Daily Mail, calling her experience a lesson and saying, “We are all on our individual journeys, believing any kind of relationship that happens in life is not random.”

She added, “We are drawn to people, we invite them in, in order to learn our lessons and to recognize and heal the broken parts of ourselves.”
