‘Hurtful’ Justin Bieber comparisons led Selena Gomez to get candid about pregnancy struggles, says source
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Actress and singer Selena Gomez was reportedly driven to talk about her pregnancy struggles after being compared to her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber, who recently had his first child with wife Hailey Baldwin.
In a recent Vanity Fair interview, the ‘Rare’ singer revealed, "I haven’t ever said this, but I unfortunately can’t carry my own children. I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy. That was something I had to grieve for a while."
According to insiders, Selena revealed that she was unable to conceive after receiving a barrage of "hurtful" comments following her ex's announcement about welcoming his first child with wife Hailey.

Justin Bieber comparisons drove Selena Gomez to open up about pregnancy struggles
Sources claimed that Selena Gomez, 32, has grown sick of everyone speculating about her pregnancy and believing that she was upset when Justin Bieber, 30, revealed he was having his first child with wife Hailey, 27.
Selena allegedly broke her silence in an apparent attempt to "clear the air" and prevent others from drawing "parallels" between her life and Justin's.
"Selena was so tired of people still trying to draw parallels between her life and her ex-Justin’s life with Hailey which went way overboard after they announced that they were expecting a baby," a source revealed to Daily Mail.
The Rare Beauty founder, who is currently dating record producer Benny Blanco, 36, is also said to feel uneasy about people speculating that she will become pregnant.
The source added, "Suddenly there was all this pressure on Selena to have a baby and to get married. She has found the love of her life in Benny. But every time Selena had an extra cheeseburger people were speculating that she is pregnant."
Selena underwent chemotherapy and a kidney transplant after receiving a lupus diagnosis in 2014. However, the singer-turned-actress is not giving up and is prepared to look into other options.
"I find it a blessing that there are wonderful people willing to do surrogacy or adoption, which are both huge possibilities for me," Gomez explained in the Vanity Fair interview.
She added, "I’m excited for what that journey will look like, but it’ll look a little different. At the end of the day, I don’t care. It’ll be mine. It’ll be my baby."
Selena restricted her Instagram comments to the accounts she followed days before Hailey and Justin announced their pregnancy in May.
The pair shared a series of black and white photos on Instagram of them cuddling Hailey's expanding baby bump and exchanging kisses, soon after renewing their vows in Hawaii.
Soon after the pregnancy announcement, remarks surfaced asserting that Selena was "gonna lose it" and "somewhere crying" over the announcement.
Benny Blanco has been Selena Gomez's 'rock,' insiders reveal
Another source claimed that Benny Blanco has been Selena Gomez's pillar of support.
"Benny has been everything to Selena," the insider said.
"He is more than a rock. He doesn't judge and he tries to find the answer to any concerns or problems she has," the source added.
The source went on to say of the couple, who have been generating rumors of an impending engagement, "Selena and Benny will marry and have kids somehow and she knows that he will be the best father because of the way he takes care of her."

Selena revealed in a cover interview with Vanity Fair that she had to "grieve" after learning she wouldn't be able to conceive. She further claimed to be "in a much better place" at the moment and to be looking into adopting a child or opting for surrogacy.
"It made me really thankful for the other outlets for people who are dying to be moms. I'm one of those people," the 'Only Murders in the Building' star said.
The singer has always been candid about her health issues. She first disclosed in 2013 that she was diagnosed with lupus and then, two years later, that she received chemotherapy to treat the autoimmune disease.
Selena has also experienced mental health issues; she suffered a breakdown in 2018 and received a bipolar disorder diagnosis. Benny has supported Selena since they initially began dating in June 2023. The music producer said Selena "inspires" him earlier this year.
