'I didn't want to be an old mom': Sofia Vergara reveals true reason behind her split with Joe Manganiello
MIAMI, FLORIDA: Sofia Vergara opened up about her divorce from Joe Manganiello in a recent interview while she was in Miami.
The ‘Modern Family’ alum told Spanish outlet El Pais the reason for her split was children.
“My marriage broke up because my husband was younger; he wanted to have kids and I didn’t want to be an old mom,” she said.

Sofia joked about her age while talking about her future plans. “I’m almost in menopause; it’s the natural way of things,” she said.
“When my son becomes a dad, let him bring the baby to me for a while and then I’ll give it back to him and go on with my life; that’s what I have to do,” she added.
Sofia is currently promoting her upcoming Netflix limited series 'Griselda' which is on Colombian drug cartel leader Griselda Blanco, as per Daily Mail.
She told the outlet, “Griselda was a very badass woman… Women are not saints, [they’re not] perfect.”
“The interesting and complex thing is that this woman had children, friends, employees. She was loyal to some and implacable with others. She degenerated [as a result of] power, fear, ambition and insecurities. Just like a man. No more, no less,” she added.
Joe Manganiello and Sofia Vergara called off their marriage in 2023
Joe and Sofia announced their divorce in July in a joint statement released by PageSix. “We have made the difficult decision to divorce. As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect of our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives,” they said.
As per documents, the reason for the split was mentioned as ‘irreconcilable differences.’

“Sofia and Joe have been growing apart for a while now and are taking some distance from each other to contemplate their future,” a source said.
The two tied the knot in 2015 in the presence of several Hollywood stars. Joe said back in 2020, “I knew pretty quickly that I could trust her, and she knew pretty quickly that she could trust me. And we’re both the kind of people who are capable of putting the other person ahead of ourselves."
Sofia is dating an orthopedic surgeon Justin Saliman while her ex-husband Joe has moved on with actress Caitlin O’Connor.
