In an interview with CBS Sunday Morning, Vergara said, “I’ve been moving on. You’re out there [in the public eye] and people know that’s part of being a celebrity,” she shared. “I knew it was gonna happen. You can’t hide those things.”
Vergara expressed her expectation of media scrutiny due to their celebrity status but appreciated the press for being respectful and not sensationalizing the situation. She mentioned that the straightforward coverage made it easier for her to overcome the tough period.
“It wasn’t bad,” she said of the coverage. “I think, you know, I have to say the press was very respectful and very nice. And I thought that they were gonna invent more things, and you know how it usually is. I was surprised and, you know, they, they kind of just said what it was and, and that was it,” the star added.
In July 2023, Vergara and Manganiello announced their separation. “We have made the difficult decision to divorce,” the couple said. “As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect of our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives.”
A source also told us that the pair had been “growing apart for a while” and had chosen to take “some distance from each other to contemplate their future.”
Soon after, Manganiello filed for divorce, citing "irreconcilable differences."
