Reasons Tori Spelling not 'ashamed' of using weight loss drugs
On the April 16 episode of her podcast, 'misSPELLING', the 'Beverly Hills, 90210' star discussed her decision to take Mounjaro, an FDA-approved prescription drug for people with type 2 diabetes.
It's a brand name for tirzepatide, or Zepbound, a medication that proved to be quite successful in helping people lose weight by decreasing appetite and enhancing the body's ability to break down carbohydrates and fat, per PEOPLE.
Spelling claimed that she was 'lucky' to lose a few pounds following the birth of her first four children, but that she 'couldn't lose' the baby weight following the birth of her now 7-year-old son Beau in 2017, so she tried diabetes medication.
She said, "I couldn’t lose the weight. At my heaviest, I was 120 lbs. my entire life. And after Beau, I was 160 lbs."
Spelling, who gave birth to Beau at age 44, continued, "I couldn’t lose the weight and the doctor was like, ‘Well, it’s an age thing'."
Spelling claimed to have done everything to reduce weight, including exercise and intermittent fasting, although she detested drinking water and never worked out.
"I did whatever anyone told me to do that was safe and it just wasn’t working. The weight wouldn’t come off," she remarked.
Spelling claimed that after that, she went to see her doctor, who gave her a prescription for Mounjaro along with hormones because menopause was almost upon her.
She added in her podcast episode that she wanted to talk about her own experience since she felt that it was "a different time" and that "everyone admits [to using diabetes drugs for weight loss] now."
Spelling explained, "I did Mounjaro and everyone admits it now. I tried Ozempic and it didn't work for me. It's a different time, so I don't feel ashamed saying that. I couldn't lose the baby weight."
Mounjaro is comparable to Ozempic and Wegovy, two brand names for semaglutide that have been popular in Hollywood for weight loss and affect appetite by acting on the brain.

Tori Spelling made honest revelation about 'intact' body parts post C-section deliveries
The 'Beverly Hills, 90210' actress revealed sensitive information about her 'intact' body parts during that same podcast interview, despite having five C-sections to deliver her children.
Besides sharing Liam, 17, Stella, 15, Hattie, 12, and Finn, 11, with her former husband Dean McDermott, Spelling had Beau in March 2017.
The 'Beverly Hills, 90210' alum bluntly asserted on her podcast that, having had five cesarean sections to deliver her children, she now had "the lady parts of a 14-year-old," per Daily Mail.
"So, I have to go on record and brag for a second that my OB-GYN says that I have the lady parts of a 14-year-old, cause it’s intact," Spelling said.
After 17 years of marriage, Spelling called it quits with the 57-year-old 'Due South' star in June 2023, but she didn't file for divorce until late March 2024, asking for sole physical custody of their children.
