'I need some pills': Internet blasts Donald Trump as singer forgets National Anthem lyrics at his North Carolina rally

RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA: On the 2nd of March, the Greensboro Coliseum Complex in North Carolina hosted a rally where former President Donald Trump was scheduled to speak, ahead of the Super Tuesday event.

The event began on time, and about thirty minutes prior to the speech by the MAGA figure, a woman was called upon to perform the National Anthem.

However, the performance did not go as smoothly as expected, as the singer appeared to have sung the wrong lyrics, per The Big Lead.

Specifically, she sang "o'er the apples we watched" instead of the correct word "ramparts."

The National Anthem at Trump rally

It remains unclear whether the unidentified woman inadvertently forgot the words to the national anthem or if she had always held the belief that the lyrics were different.

Many of us have had moments where we've sung a song for years, only to realize that the words we thought we knew were incorrect.

In this instance, it's conceivable that some individuals may have experienced this with the national anthem, considering the dramatic manner in which it is often sung.

However, most Americans are taught the correct lyrics to the US national anthem from a young age, and it becomes deeply embedded in their memory.

If this woman somehow did not have the opportunity to learn the correct lyrics as a child, then it would have been prudent for her to have studied them before singing in front of a rally.

It is a challenging environment to make such a blatant slip-up.

Although it seems that nobody in the crowd noticed or was concerned about the error, it wasn't an ideal start to the Trump rally.

The former President similarly committed a verbal gaffe after he was incapable of pronouncing “Venezuela” onstage in front of his ever-ardent supporters.

The 77-year-old GOP presidential frontrunner's notable mistake occurred against the backdrop of reports suggesting that advanced aging has been affecting Trump's mental faculties.

“Did you just see Maduro Venezue..(intelligible) it’s unbelievable,” Trump said onstage mentioning President Nicolas Maduro of Venezuela.

Some compared Trump’s mistake to that of President Joe Biden, 81, who has been frequently shamed for errors in his speeches.

Internet mocks Donald Trump for employing underqualified individuals to his rallies

People on X ripped into the former President's track record of entrusting less-than-qualified people to come and do a job for him, sometimes, in a hilariously disastrous manner.

One X user remarked, "You would think a patriot would know the words to the National Anthem."

Another user said, "Yeah... so that's what a 'true patriot' is? Damn... I need some pills."

Another user wrote, "It doesn't matter because the majority of the MAGA crowd at the rally don't know the words, including their cult leader."

One user said, "I’m surprised they ever knew the words in the first place!"

Another X user quipped, "Lucky Trump wasn’t singing it, he would probably forget all of the words"

One user tweeted, "Rather a symbolic mishap while performing for a group of Americans who have forgotten what our Constitution and democracy mean."
