Ilhan Omar’s husband’s firm removes names from website as her wealth questioned amid Minnesota fraud
MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA: Democrat Ilhan Omar, an active critic of the Trump administration, found herself in deep waters after information about her husband’s assets started making the rounds online.
The New York Post reported on Saturday, December 27, 2035, that Omar’s husband’s venture capital management firm had removed information on several officers, including some who worked with Barack Obama, after the federal government announced charges against individuals linked to the fraud scandal in Minnesota.
Five officers' information missing from Rose Lake Capital’s website
In 2019, Ilhan Omar declared her net worth to be between “negative $25,000 and negative $65,000” as per The Post and claimed she had no assets and was in the process of paying off her car and student loans. However, according to her financial disclosure, filed in May 2025, she and her husband, Tim Mynett, saw an increase of “3,500%.”
Paul Kamenar previously accused Omar of lying about the authenticity of her assets. He said that there were “a lot of strange things” happening, noting that the representative was “basically broke” when she came into office.
“She needs to come clean on these assets,” he added.
Omar’s campaign received $7,400 in “direct donations” from three convicted fraudsters and had close ties with two individuals from the Somalian community who had previously charged with fraud, including Salim Ahmed Said and Guhaad Hashi Said. Salim Ahmed Said was found guilty in August 2025 of stealing more than $12 million during Covid-19.
Meanwhile, Guhaad Hashi Said pleaded guilty in the same month to running a fake food website and reporting false information while pocketing $3.2 million.
Shortly after that, Tim Mynett launched a venture capital management company called Roe Lake Capital in 2022. The company’s value increased to $425 million in a year, as it claimed to have “already amassed $69 billion” in assets under management. However, Omar’s financial disclosure listed Rose Lake Capital’s assets as less then $1,000 in 2023.
After federal prosecutors announced charges against eight individuals in relation to the fraud scam in Minnesota, Rose Lake Capital’s website removed mames of officers and advisors. This included Bahrain Adam Ereli, Max Baucus, Alex Hoffman, William Derrough, and Keith Mestrich.
Tim Mynett’s winery was accused of fraud in past
One of Ilhan Tim Mynett’s businesses, a winery based in California, was previously accused of fraud and was declared a “failed venture in 2023. The case stemmed from an investor suing Omar’s husband in October 2023, alleging that he had swindled him out of $900,000 by falsely representing EstCru, LLC as a legitimate business.
The case was settled out of court. However, the company’s net worth supposedly skyrocketed between $1 million and $5 million the following year.
