LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Newsmax host Greg Kelly criticized fans of popstar Taylor Swift for "idolizing" the singer, asserting that it's a sin according to the Bible.

On his show, 'Greg Kelly Reports', he expressed disapproval of the intense admiration shown by what he referred to as the 'hardcore Taylor Swift fans'.

Taylor Swift's idolization and political influence

According to Daily Mail, Kelly remarked, "They are totally over the top worshipping this woman. Have you seen any of the pictures of her in concert? I wouldn’t go myself. I don’t do that kind of thing anymore. But I think what they call it is, they’re elevating her to an idol. Idolatry."

He emphasized that such idolization is a form of sin, citing biblical references.

He added: "This is a little bit what idolatry, I think, looks like. And you’re not supposed to do that. In fact, if you look it up in the Bible, it’s a sin! So, I don’t like that."

Furthermore, Kelly expressed skepticism about Swift's relationship with her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, labeling it a 'publicity stunt'.

He suggested that the Biden campaign might use the couple for endorsement in the presidential election, claiming, "And she is going to use all of this popularity, potentially, against MAGA and for Democrats. She’s got a record of this stuff, a track record."

The host pointed to a poll conducted by Redfield & Wilton Strategies for Newsweek, revealing that 18 percent of voters are 'more likely' or 'significantly more likely' to vote for a candidate endorsed by Swift.

Mixed reactions and youthful influence

However, 17 percent stated they would be less likely to vote for a candidate supported by Swift, potentially impacting Democrat Joe Biden negatively.

Swift's influence, particularly among voters under 35, was evident in the poll, considering the upcoming election's 8 million new voters in the US electorate, including 41 million Gen Z voters influenced by celebrities and social media.

The article also detailed Swift's recent attendance at the AFC Championship game in Baltimore, where she supported her boyfriend Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs.

It mentioned her visible presence in the luxury suites, her interactions during and after the game, and her anticipated attendance at Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas.

Despite the criticisms from Kelly, Swift's influence on voters, especially the younger demographic, and her public appearances suggest that her impact extends beyond the realm of music to politics and cultural events. The article highlights the intersection of celebrity, politics, and fandom in today's media landscape.
