SENECA, SOUTH CAROLINA: Republican Senator Lindsey Graham declared he would definitely support former president Donald Trump even if he is convicted under felony charges before the 2024 presidential election, HuffPost reported.

Trump, who is the GOP presumptive nominee, is currently on trial in the hush money criminal case. He has been charged with 34 felony counts for falsifying his business record to cover up the payment he made to Stormy Daniels shortly before the 2016 election, which he won.

The $130,000 payment was made to silence her about their alleged sexual encounter, which happened not long after the ex-president's youngest son Barron Trump's birth in 2006.

Senator Lindsey Graham backs Donald Trump

South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham became vocal about his unequivocal backing to the White House hopeful when CNN's Dana Bash questioned him whether he would still support and vote for Trump if he is convicted.

"Absolutely," Graham stated, before adding, "I think what's going on with Donald Trump is weaponization of the law."

"He's being prosecuted in Manhattan, one of the deepest blue state cities in the country. Georgia and Fulton County. Jack Smith is going after Trump," the GOP congressman said, siding with Trump's frequent claims of the criminal cases being politically motivated.

He continued that "most people have written this off," before adding, "They're going to focus on their problems, not a bunch of cases brought by liberals against Trump."

Graham also slammed the ongoing criminal trial against Trump in New York, calling it a "selective prosecution."

"I think all these trials are political. I think it's selective prosecution. I think what's going on in New York is an outrage. The case is eight years ago. They created a crime just for Trump. I think it's selective prosecution for political purposes," he argued, according to The Hill.

Including the hush money trial in Manhattan, the MAGA spearhead faces four federal indictments for allegedly trying to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia, for an election subversion attempt in Washington DC, including his alleged role in the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack, and for mishandling of classified documents post-Oval Office tenure.

In between all the legal battles, Trump is campaigning against his successor, President Joe Biden, to retake the White House in the November election.

Internet slams Lindsey Graham for his support for Donald Trump

Netizens lashed out at Graham's unwavering support for Donald Trump.

One social media user wrote, "Wow, Shame on you Lindsey. Are you so afraid that we find out the things that have on you. We know, we know." Another remarked, "Lindsey is the biggest coward of them all!"

"Not the man I want as my Senator. He shames SC," a third user fumed. A fourth response read, "@LindseyGrahamSC is nothing more than a morally bankrupt hypocrite. Pathetic little man."

Another enraged user wrote, "What a weak, pathetic little troll."

A user labeled Graham's stance "Shameless political opportunism." An individual argued, "Ah, remember when Linds was a house manager for the Bill Clinton Senate impeachment trial? You know, it was all about character mattering, blah, blah, blah, and now we know it was all just blather."

"What a spineless loser," another said.
