NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Former Vice President Mike Pence took to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to commend House Speaker Mike Johnson over his efforts to pass the foreign aid legislation on Saturday, April 20.

The House of Representatives passed foreign aid bills allocating $60.8 billion for Ukraine, $26.4 billion for Israel, and $8 billion for Taiwan and other Indo-Pacific allies on Saturday. A fourth bill that seeks to force the sale of TikTok and imposes strong sanctions on Iran, China, and Russia, was also passed with overwhelming support.

Mike Pence's tweet

Pence shared a clip from his interview on Fox News on X, where he mentions the current global conflicts and says, "This is a moment that demands American strength. I really want to commend Speaker Mike Johnson for providing what I honestly think ... is moral courage."

"To be honest... I think Speaker Mike Johnson did a better job in the last two days explaining America’s interest in supporting the Ukrainian military than Joe Biden has done in the last two years," he goes on to state.

"I think the reason why we have, and should continue, to support the Ukrainian military in their fight against Russian aggression is because I have no doubt in my mind that if Vladimir Putin overruns Ukraine, it'll just be a matter of time he crosses the border then our men and women in uniform would have to go and fight. So I am pleased to see the House moving this legislation. It is not perfect ... but I am grateful to see the legislation moving forward to renew our commitment to provide American leadership on the world stage."

Internet reacts to Mike Pence's tweet

Mike Pence's tweet praising Mike Johnson, however, did not meet with much enthusiasm on the Internet.

"If Mike Pence likes Speaker Johnson, then Johson is definitely the enemy," a user wrote on X responding to Pence's post.

"BOTH TRAITORS 😡😡 You and Johnson! You do NOTHING for the American People!" slammed another.

"America is under siege and people are struggling to make ends meet, yet this is your message?" commented a third.

"Seriously, shut up and go away. Nobody likes you or wants you around," jibed a fourth.

"Mike what exactly are you celebrating? These never-ending wars are nothing but cash cows for the military-industrial complex and warmongers like you, enriching politicians and elites while draining resources and lives from hardworking Americans. It's a blatant betrayal of the public trust, and those responsible must be held accountable for their greed-driven actions," stated a fifth.
