Karine Jean-Pierre called liar after she admits giving false information about doctors meeting Joe Biden
WASHINGTON, DC: The White House is taking care of business after press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre informed reporters on Tuesday, July 9, that President Joe Biden's care had nothing to do with a meeting between White House physician Dr Kevin O'Connor and renowned expert on Parkinson's disease and neurological disorders, Dr Kevin Cannard.
The White House now claims that O'Connor and Cannard met Biden on January 17 at the White House for a neurological examination; the findings of that examination were subsequently released over a month later as part of his yearly physical check-up.
An "extremely detailed neurological exam" revealed that Biden did not exhibit any symptoms of Parkinson's disease or any other cerebellar or central neurological disorders, according to O'Connor who revealed the results on February 28.
A clarification was asked through a letter sent on July 8 by Dr Kevin O’Connor
During the White House press briefing on Tuesday, July 9, an Associated Press reporter inquired about details regarding a letter that O'Connor had sent on Monday evening, July 8.
"It didn't seem to explicitly describe the nature of Dr Cannard's meeting with Dr O'Connor. So can you say whether that one meeting was related to care for the president himself?" the reporter asked. "I can say that it was not," Jean-Pierre replied.
Karine Jean-Pierre insisted she had already confirmed that three meetings had occurred
Although Cannard's identity was unknown until O'Connor revealed it on Monday, July 8, Jean-Pierre maintained that she had previously verified from "behind this lectern" that three meetings had taken place and that the physician was a "neurologist." She stated that prior to disclosing that information, she required approval from both the president and Canyon.
"And the reason why is because we do not share private information. That is something that we respect. And we wanted to make sure that we protected our consultants here that work with the White House medical unit, their security as well," she told reporters from the podium Tuesday, July 9.
Jean-Pierre subsequently stated that she was confused because the question did not include the date. The meeting between O'Connor and Cannard was the subject of the inquiry, though, and based on the visitor logs, it was their only encounter between July 2023 and this past March. This period of time has come under investigation because Cannard made eight trips to the White House during that period.
The other seven visits by Kevin Cannard have Megan Nasworthy listed as the visitee
Megan Nasworthy is listed as the visitee for Cannard's other seven visits.
"Because the date was not mentioned in the question, I want to be clear that the January 17th meeting between Dr O’Connor and Dr scabbard was for the president’s physical. It was one of the three times the President has seen Dr. Cannard, each time for his physical. The findings from each exam have been released to the public," the statement said.
Jean-Pierre proactively followed up with the AP to volunteer the information, according to Fox News. The White House has had to provide additional clarification on its responses to queries regarding the health of the 81-year-old president on multiple occasions in the days that have passed since Biden's debate fiasco which sparked fresh worries about his suitability to hold office.
Karine Jean-Pierre said Joe Biden 'did not get checked out by the doctor' last week
Jean-Pierre claimed last week that Biden "did not get checked out by the doctor" for a cold that was apparent during the debate on June 27. After the debate, though, Biden claimed in a secret meeting with Democratic governors that he had seen his physician.
According to Jean-Pierre, she intended to imply that Biden did not receive a comprehensive medical examination and that the president did, in fact, "check in" with his physician on a few occasions each week.
The White House released a statement from Kevin O’Connor describing the nature of Kevin Cannard's visits
In addition, the White House issued a statement from O'Connor on Monday night, July 8, outlining the purpose of Cannard's visits after Jean-Pierre had earlier in the day refused to provide the doctor's name or an explanation for his visit. It also verified that Cannard had been the neurologist who had evaluated Biden on three separate occasions during the 81-year-old's presidency.
"A lot of the things I said right here in this briefing room" were later reiterated in O'Connor's letter, as per Jean-Pierre, who made this claim on Tuesday, July 9.
Karine Jean-Pierre recently stated that White House is doing the best in this briefing
This week, Jean-Pierre said that she and other White House press aides are doing "our best in this briefing to provide the information that we have." "I will be the first one to admit: Sometimes I get it wrong. At least I admit that," she said, adding "And sometimes I don’t have the information. And I will always, always admit that."
Additionally, Jean-Pierre's explanation demonstrates how certain aspects of the president's yearly physical, which is typically carried out at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, can be completed over an extended period of time as opposed to just one day at the hospital in suburban Maryland.
When O’Connor released the results of Biden’s physical on February 28, he wrote that "an extremely detailed neurological exam was again reassuring in that there were no findings which would be consistent with any cerebellar or other central neurological disorder such as stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s or ascending lateral sclerosis, nor are there any signs of cervical myelopathy."
The letter had not stated when the neurological exam had been conducted or where it took place.
Repeated presence of Kevin Cannard in the White House visitor logs also attracted attention
Cannard's frequent entry in the White House visitor logs garnered notice due to his proficiency in treating movement disorders like Parkinson's disease. But this week, Jean-Pierre made it clear that Biden has never had treatment for Parkinson's disease and that he is not currently receiving treatment or medication for the condition.
Cannard has worked for the past 12 years as a neurology consultant for the White House medical unit. In a letter published on Monday night, July 8, O'Connor added that Cannard has regularly hosted neurology clinics at the White House "in support of the thousands of active-duty members assigned in support of White House operations."
Internet says Karine Jean-Pierre lied again
Netizens berated Jean-Pierre and the White House for keeping the general public in dark regarding the doctors' continuous visit to the official residence of Biden amid reports of declining health conditions. One X user wrote, "Soooo she lied!!! Again!!!!" while hinting at Jean-Pierre. Another added, "Shocker. Why are all these records corrected only after they are called out for being lies?"

"Shifting stories. Throwing them on the wall hoping something will stick," remarked one and someone else penned, "Yeah, like we didn’t know that." "Why believe anything from this administration if their instinct is to lie first and retract later?" slammed a user.
