NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: On a recent episode of 'Real Time With Bill Maher', the host took a dig at Donald Trump's stance on abortion, suggesting that there's a practical reason why the former president may never fully oppose it.

Maher's joke came in the context of discussing Trump's financial gains from the public debut of his social media platform, Truth Social, which resulted in a significant increase in his wealth.

Maher jokes about Trump's financial success with Truth Social

"It went public. He made $5 billion. Idiots bought shares in this money-losing imitation Twitter that no one uses," Maher quipped.

"This is why Trump is never really going to be against abortion: he needs a sucker born every minute," he added.

Trump's ownership stake in the company amounts to approximately 60% of all its stock, with each share currently valued at $61.96.

Although he won't be able to sell his shares for the next six months, the timing of the public offering is favorable for Trump, considering he is required to pay $175 million within the next five days for the civil fraud case he lost.

In another segment of Maher's monologue, he addressed Biden's star-studded fundraiser in New York City this week, contrasting it with Trump's financial success with Truth Social.

Maher humorously remarked, "Biden had a big fundraiser, did you see that in New York? Obama was there and Bill Clinton, it was like 'The Expendables."'

He added a witty jab by mentioning the event's venue, jesting, "It was at Radio City. Biden was very excited, he said he’s heard very good things about radio."

Maher also didn't miss the opportunity to comment on Trump's sale of "Trump Bibles" at a premium price.

“This is America in a nutshell: So they have this big fundraiser there, they have the A-list stars, of course they have ex-presidents, singers, dancers, Lizzo – they raised $26 million. Trump sold Twitter for Idiots on the stock market and made $5 billion sitting at home,” he said.

"This is not the only way Trump is raising money. I’m not making this up, it sounds like I am, he’s got his very own Bible," he began.

Maher mocks Trump's 'Trump Bibles' and Easter holiday

Continuing, he said, "But it’s not just your regular Bible that you buy in the airport. It also has in it the constitution and the declaration of independence. His fans are gonna love it, it has everything they pretend to have read in one book."

Then, he added another zinger: “Trump selling a Bible, it’s like Chris Christie selling a vegetable slicer."

Maher then humorously shifted focus to the Easter holiday, quipping, "The day when Romans crucified Christ, or as the Trump Bible says, there were some very fine people on both sides."

Internet responds to Maher's remarks

From clever one-liners to sidesplitting punchlines, Maher's words became instant fodder for comedic content on social media. One person said, "Bill Maher is dunce."

"His comments (ripping the baby out of the womb days before birth) is SO ignorant. It just doesn't happen. He is clueless," another said.

"Maher is Trump-lite, not as absurd, but many similarities: Narcissistic, limited self awareness, thin-skinned etc," someone else noted.

"Maher's got blood on his hands also," a user alleged. "We can always count on Bill to point out the ignorance," another wrote laudatorily.
