LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jenna Ortega has shown her support for Palestine and called for a ceasefire in Gaza, six months after her 'Scream' co-star Melissa Barrera was fired from the franchise for doing the same.

On Tuesday, May 28, the 'Wednesday' actress—who portrayed Melissa's younger sister in the 2022 film 'Scream' and the 2023 film 'Scream VI'—took to her Instagram Stories to express her position on the Israel-Hamas war and destruction in Gaza.

This comes following airstrikes that struck Rafah and allegedly claimed the lives of at least 45 people in a tent camp, including children, TMZ reported.

The 'Wednesday' star shared a picture of a cheerful Palestinian family relaxing in a field of flowers, presumably before Israel's invasion was sparked by a Hamas strike on October 7, 2023.

She captioned the post, "Masses debating over a ceasefire while thousands upon thousands of children continue being slaughtered. Where is the humanity."

She also posted Pedro Pascal's request for a ceasefire on her Instagram Stories, which said, "All eyes on Rafah."

In recent days, Ortega posted more pro-Palestinian images on her Instagram account while Israel bombed Rafah, killing dozens of refugees, including children.

However, this is the first time she has written a statement regarding the issue and posted about the conflict on her main account.

Nevertheless, Ortega remained remarkably silent after Melissa was fired from the horror franchise in November due to identical pro-Palestine views.

Barrera's posts, however, were judged "hate speech" by production company Spyglass because they were more inflammatory than Ortega's.

Barrera, who portrayed Sam Carpenter in the movie series, called Israel a "colonized" land and allegedly seemed to reiterate an antisemitic stereotype that Jews run the media in other remarks, the Daily Mail reported.

Another post lamented that she couldn't find any videos on her account that she wanted to share despite searching for ones with a Palestinian viewpoint.

After serving as the lead in the movie's first two parts, Spyglass did not mince words in criticizing Barrera or offering an explanation for her dismissal.

Jenna Ortega's support for Palestine gets mixed reactions online

Social media users were divided over Jenna Ortega's support for Palestine, with one X (formerly Twitter) user supporting the actress by writing, "Jenna ortega finally using her platform again to speak up for Palestine."

Another supporter said, "My love Jenna Ortega is sooo real she shared about palestine and disallowed her story replies lmfaooo all them zionists can cry."

Several detractors also expressed their opinion, with one commenting, "All this pointless infighting is just so pathetic to see. Like they really expect everyone to support Palestine since before the beginning of time itself."

"She knows nothing about history," exclaimed another one, while one person remarked, "Sad I doubt she understands the actual conflict."

One individual wrote, "She supports something that doesn't exist. She is saying she supports the destruction of Israel. That's sick."
