Internet divided as Kellyanne Conway claims Democrats losing minority voters over 'attack' on religion

WASHINGTON, DC: Kellyanne Conway, a former senior counselor to former president Donald Trump, claimed the Democrats' "attack" on religion is the reason behind them "partly" losing the minority voters, The Hill reported.

In her appearance on Fox News' 'Ingraham Angle' on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, Conway said, "You have so many Democrats who seem hostile to religion, I think it's partly why they're losing voters of color because if you go into any Catholic Church, you and I are both Catholic in any suburb in this country on a Sunday, it's multi-generations of Hispanics and Asian Americans filling up those pews in some of those Masses."

The former Trump advisor, who also served as the GOP presumptive nominee's 2016 campaign manager, made the remarks while discussing the recent Wall Street Journal poll released on April 2 that showed President Joe Biden trailing behind Trump in six of seven swing states, excluding Wisconsin.

Kellyanne Conway urges for more talks about faith

Further into sharing her opinion, the Fox News contributor noted there should be more talks regarding faith in light of the rising "lonely" feeling among the US population.

"And you have Democrats always offering us their thoughts, never their prayers, big social science surveys, people are losing their faith," Conway said, before adding, "They feel lonely, they feel isolated. We should be talking more about faith, not less."

This is not Conway's first time commenting on religion. In March, she said that Democrats are "openly hostile to" it.

Speaking on Fox Business in March, the former Trump adviser argued that some Democrats have eliminated the term "prayers" from "thoughts and prayers," and are opting to run and brunch out instead of attending church, according to Mediaite.

In addition, Conway said Democrats "will regret" not choosing an alternative to Biden and VP Kamala Harris for the 2024 presidential election.

"I think the Democrats will regret not getting rid of Biden and Harris a year ago and put someone else in there, maybe lose to Donald Trump in 2024, making the face of the opposition," she said.

Conway is reportedly considering joining Trump's 2024 team, as per the latest report by Axios. However, a senior Trump adviser denied any such offer on the table.

Kellyanne Conway's remarks split the internet

Responding to Conway blaming Democrat's attack on religion for their minority voter loss, netizens were divided into two sides, with one side rejecting her claims and the other supporting her.

One social media user wrote, "They never attacked religion. You are the ones making up lies with religion."

Another remarked, "Makes sense. As a Christian, I could never vote democrat. That would be Satanic."

"No Democratic candidate is attacking religion!!" one person stated, while another backed Conway and wrote, "She’s not wrong."

Another comment read, "They never attacked religion. You are the ones making up lies with religion." On the other hand, an individual outrightly claimed, "She’s right."

"So, attempting that “alternative facts” thing again, apparently," one person wrote. 

Referring to the Biden administration's acknowledgment of Transgender Visibility Day on Easter Sunday, one person argued, "She might be right. Latinos especially, tend to be very loyal Catholics. Many I know are more angry then I about the trans day of visibility. They are turning their backs."
