NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Sean 'Diddy' Combs will be sentenced on October 3 following his conviction on two federal counts of transporting individuals for prostitution.

The sentencing date was confirmed Tuesday, July 8, by District Judge Arun Subramanian, who presided over the trial in Manhattan.

Diddy to remain behind bars until sentencing after acquittal on serious charges

Diddy’s attorney Marc Agnifilo had filed a motion last week requesting the sentencing be moved up, but the court rejected the request.

Prosecutors and probation officers did not object to keeping the original date. The music mogul, 55, remains in custody at a Brooklyn jail, where he has been held since his arrest in September 2024.

Although jurors cleared Combs of the most serious charges — sex trafficking and racketeering — that could have led to a life sentence, they convicted him on two lesser counts. He pleaded not guilty to all five original charges.

Diddy will continue to be held in jail until his sentencing date, and by then, he will have served more than a year behind bars. That time will count toward his final sentence.

Federal sentencing guidelines vary as Diddy's defense prepares motion to overturn

Prosecutors have stated Diddy could face a sentence ranging from 51 to 63 months based on federal guidelines, while his defense team argues that the guidelines indicate a two-year sentence.

Judge Subramanian is not bound to follow either recommendation and may determine his own sentence.

The defense has until July 30 to file a motion asking the court to overturn Diddy’s conviction. They must submit their official sentencing recommendation by September 19, with prosecutors expected to respond one week later as per Reuters.

During the trial, two former girlfriends — Casandra 'Cassie' Ventura, who was eight months pregnant at the time, and another woman identified as Jane — testified against Combs. Several other individuals also gave testimony during the proceedings.

Internet reacts to Diddy's sentencing date: ‘Justice is coming’

Internet users are skeptical, with some hoping Diddy will face more jail time, while others believe the time he spent in jail until October will be all he serves. Some also find it suspicious that the defense quietly accepted sentencing date.

“It will be time served. He will be released on October the 3rd,” one person predicted on X.

“Diddy’s legal team dropping the push to expedite his sentencing is so sketchy. They want him to finish a year in jail so they give him bail, they’re cooking smh,” read one reaction online.

“Hope he gets jail time,” another person wrote on X. Another speculated, “He is going to be exonerated, isn't he?”

“Justice is coming,” someone else shared. “Diddy’s sentencing date is locked in for Oct. 3 after the court shot down moving it up. Wild to see how this plays out…” added another user.
