LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Dakota Johnson might just have landed herself in the bad books of Sony Entertainment following rumors that the studio is upset with her for publicly criticizing 'Madame Web' and its disappointing run at the box office.

In a recent interview with Bustle, Johnson opened up about her disappointment with 'Madame Web' and how it failed to meet expectations.

The 'Fifty Shades of Grey' star didn't hide her dissatisfaction with the film's direction during its theatrical release, describing her experience working on it as unique and pledging not to take on similar projects in the future.

Meanwhile, Johnson and her partner, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, are rumored to be planning a private wedding ceremony following their engagement.

The couple, who have been together since 2017, seem to be going strong in their relationship.

Sony rumored to blame Dakota Johnson for bad performance of 'Madame Web'

According to the Daily Mail, Johnson isn't holding back in her criticism of the Sony flick 'Madame Web' after it fell short at the box office.

Johnson steps into the spotlight as the main superhero in this $80 million production. Unfortunately, the film didn't quite hit the mark with both critics and moviegoers when it premiered on Valentine's Day.

Despite its hefty budget, the movie only raked in $40 million domestically so far, way below what was hoped for. Its debut weekend numbers were especially disappointing, bringing in just $15.1 million.

Even though Johnson hasn't watched the movie herself, her comments on it have caused quite a stir.

A source spilled the beans to the Daily Mail, saying, "Lots of people at Sony are questioning her star power."

They also mentioned that Sony wasn't too thrilled about Johnson's repeated critiques, hinting that they weren't amused by her ongoing negative remarks.

The insider added, "It is okay to joke about your movie not doing well. Producers and Sony aren't laughing over Dakota's continued dragging of how she sees the fallout of 'Madame Web' and how she isn't taking any responsibility for its lackluster results."

As per the Daily Mail, they went on to say, "Dakota is being looked down on over her talk of the film because everyone in the production is thinking, what if the movie was still the same but also a box office gem? She would be talking about sequels and probably praising herself over its good fortune."

Furthermore, the source warned Johnson about how things work in Hollywood. If her next film is a hit, she'll be back in the limelight. But for now, that doesn't seem to be the case.

In 'Madame Web,' Johnson takes on the role of Cassandra Webb, a NYC paramedic with psychic abilities thanks to a mutant gene. Her mission is to protect three women from an unknown enemy.

Internet defends Dakota Johnson against Sony's criticism

Social media users have taken a stand for Dakota Johnson against the criticism she is facing from Sony bosses.

A user called out Sony and wrote, "Make a better movie I say."

Another user wrote, "Dakota was not the director. She didn’t write the script. She did her job as an actor. Just because she was honest about her experience doesn’t mean she deserves to get crapped on by Sony. Sony wouldn’t even be in this position if they were making better films…."

A user commented, "Dakota Johnson did the job she was paid to do. Any fallout for it being a bad movie isn’t on her or any of the other cast. Look at the directors, writers, etc."

Another user commented, "They should be more unhappy with the horrible film they put out that is making people question Sony’s live action marvel films they are trying desperately to work. Some have been decent, but let’s be honest. Their animated SpiderVerse is what is really working right now."

A user stated, "She’s just being real lmao."
