ROME, GEORGIA: Former President Donald Trump revived his long-standing feud with ex-Fox News host Megyn Kelly, igniting a fresh wave of controversy at a rally in Rome, Georgia, on Saturday night, March 9.

Trump, 77, took to the stage, recounting the infamous 2015 GOP presidential debate where Kelly, 53, moderated and confronted him about his treatment of women.

"Megyn Kelly. May she rest in peace," Trump quipped, drawing laughter from the crowd. "She’s sort of making a career by pretending she likes me," he said.

The rallygoers responded with enthusiasm as Trump revisited the tense exchange that marked the beginning of their public animosity.

Kelly, who left Fox for NBC and was subsequently fired in 2018 after defending blackface on her morning talk show, has recently ventured into conservative podcasting, focusing on criticizing "wokeness."

Donald Trump and Megyn Kelly feud explained

Trump's comments at the rally stirred memories of their contentious history, particularly Kelly's probing question about his past remarks regarding women's appearance. "They asked me that horrible, horrible question, remember?" Trump recalled. "And I said, 'Oh, am I dead?' That’s the first question I ever got.'"

"You’ve called women you don’t like fat pigs, dogs, slobs, and disgusting animals," Kelly said at the time. "Does that sound to you like the temperament of a man we should elect as president?

This sparked a series of verbal attacks from Trump, who labeled Kelly a "b**bo" and suggested she "had blood coming out of her eyes, or blood coming out of her wherever."

Despite Kelly's attempts to reconcile in the past, Trump's rhetoric has remained consistently abrasive.

Megyn Kelly extends olive branch to Donald Trump

Last summer, Kelly appeared to extend an olive branch, describing their feud as water under the bridge and commending Trump's magnetic presence during a Turning Point USA conference.

"There’s just something about him, it’s like an aura that sort of takes over the room," she said at the time. "There’s only one person you can look at. He could not have been nicer or more generous and had some interesting thoughts about the debates, whether he’s going to attend."

She even interviewed Trump last September, praising his response to her question from nearly a decade ago. In late January, following Trump's victory over Republican rival Nikki Haley in the New Hampshire primary, Kelly expressed admiration for Trump's adeptness at marketing himself to voters.

Speaking on her podcast, 'The Megyn Kelly Show,' during a discussion with guest Michael Moynihan, Kelly praised Trump's marketing skills, acknowledging their effectiveness. "Back to his [Trump’s] marketing skills, he knows how to use them. They're actually quite effective … I don't know what Nikki Haley is going to do," she said at the time.

"I don't know if she's actually going to get out before she gets humiliated in her home state where he's beating her by 30 points, or if she's just going to kind of stick around kind of collecting random delegates," she added. "I have no idea what she's doing, but it's over. She's done. So we can pretend as long as she wants. He's won."

"I really think given the amount of coverage that is going to come this next year, and coverage not just from MSNBC, but from you, Moynihan on The Fifth Column, and from me and from Ben Shapiro, people who are not bought and paid for by anyone, but can see what's being done to him, even if you're not a huge Trump fan, that that will permeate," Kelly explained.

However, Trump's recent remarks at the Georgia rally underscored the unresolved tension between the two. Kelly's continued defense of Trump has not been reciprocated, with Trump criticizing her during an Iowa rally shortly after their interview.

"She became nastier all of a sudden," Trump said. "She was pretty nasty, didn’t you think, anyone that watched it."

Kelly had confronted Trump during the interview about his handling of classified documents post-presidency, leading to further friction.

Internet slams Megyn Kelly after Donald Trump calls her out

Social media erupted with reactions following Trump's rally comments, with some criticizing Kelly for her continued support of Trump despite his history of insults towards her.

"Trump loves humiliating people that support him," one posted on X.

"Nothing will change. She'll continue to fangirl over the disgusting clown who never stopped insulting her because 'There’s just something about him,'" another wrote.

"She gets what she deserves. She should have learned her lesson the first time," someone else offered.

"True Trump Derangement Syndrom are these people, like Megyn Kelly, who stick their hand holding a steak in an alligator's mouth and after it is bitten off they reach for another steak with their remaining hand," another chimed in.
