WASHINGTON, DC: Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has reportedly indicated to Democratic donors that he would be open to supporting a 2024 Democratic Party ticket without President Joe Biden due to increasing calls for the 81-year-old incumbent to drop out of the presidential race, according to Mediaite.

On Wednesday, July 10, Axios reported that although Schumer had publicly endorsed Joe Biden, privately, he had been “singing a different tune,” and was “listening to donors’ ideas and suggestions about the best way forward for the party” amid calls for the Commander-in-Chief’s withdrawal from the November ticket.

What has Chuck Schumer been doing behind the scenes regarding the Biden reelection issue?

Sen Chuck Schumer had been receptive to Democratic donors' suggestions even before President Joe Biden's lackluster performance against his predecessor in CNN's first presidential debate last month. He had also been “receiving feedback from his fellow senators.”

Previously, Schumer “had signaled to political allies that he was open to options other than President Biden if his debate performance was disastrous.”

After the Democrat statesman's dismal debate outing and various reports on his purported “cognitive decline,” numerous Democrats, donors, and media personalities advised the POTUS to exit the race.

On Wednesday, July 10, Hollywood actor George Clooney added his voice to the mounting demands for President Joe Biden to drop out, stating that although the President was a “close friend,” he did not seem to possess the same strength and cognitive ability as he did in 2020.

The White House responded with a statement that implied President Biden had more stamina than Clooney.

Internet derides Chuck Schumer as reports suggest he is looking to dump Biden off the 2024 ticket

One X user remarked, "This is a definite shift. The tide is turning."

Another user said, "He came to that conclusion by 'listening to donors’ ideas and suggestions'… not by listening to 72% of Americans. Money talks so loud in our government that it drowns out the folks’ shouts."

Another user wrote, "That's extremely irresponsible of Schumer."

One user asked, "If not Joe, then who will be on the ticket, @SenSchumer? Yesterday you were 'with Joe'. Today? Not so much?"

Another X user quipped, "Tough s**t Chuck. Primaries are over. That's the guy everyone voted for."

Finally, this user tweeted, "Schumer is open to whatever benefits Schumer."
