JUPITER, FLORIDA: Eric Trump, the son of former President Donald Trump, has predicted that the Colorado Supreme Court's decision to disqualify his father from the ballot under the 14th Amendment will bolster his standing in the polls. This comes days after Eric's wife Lara Trump was mocked for selling $47 'Barbie'-themed MAGA cap.

Eric took to X, formerly Twitter, on Tuesday, December 19. 2023, saying, “Prediction: This Colorado decision will add 5%+ points to @realDonaldTrump already runaway polls.”

Despite facing four criminal cases and a civil fraud lawsuit in New York, Trump's lead in the GOP primary polls has remained consistent in recent months.

According to The Hill and Decision Desk's analysis as of Tuesday, December 19, the former president holds 64.9 percent of the vote, while United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis trail far behind with 10.8 percent and 10.7 percent, respectively.

Regarding the 2024 US general election, hypothetical match-ups between Trump and President Biden show the two political leaders in tight races, with Trump leading in several swing states.

A New York Times/Siena poll released before the Colorado state Supreme Court ruling on Tuesday found Trump leading the incumbent by 2 points among registered voters.

What did the Colorado Supreme Court decree regarding Donald Trump?

On Tuesday night, the Colorado Supreme Court issued a ruling that may have a significant effect on the re-election campaign of former president Trump.

The ruling states that Trump should not be included on Colorado's ballot due to his alleged involvement in the January 6th, 2021 attack on the Capitol.

The 14th Amendment's "insurrection clause" was cited by the 4-3 ruling, which argued that President Trump was engaged in insurrection by promoting false allegations of election fraud and encouraging his supporters to storm the Capitol building.

The Colorado Supreme Court ruled that the office of the presidency falls under the insurrection clause, which applies to individuals who have previously taken oaths to uphold the Constitution as "officer(s) of the United States," "member(s) of Congress," "executive or judicial officer(s) of any State," or "member(s) of any State legislature."

The lower district court had previously ruled that the insurrection clause did not apply to the office of the president.

The court has put its ruling on hold until January 4th, allowing Trump to request a review from the US Supreme Court which the Trump campaign spokesperson has already pledged to do.

Until the US Supreme Court resolves the appeal, Trump's name will remain on Colorado's ballot.

Numerous Republican lawmakers have voiced their disagreement with the ruling, with many claiming that it is a partisan attempt by Democrats to prevent President Trump from returning to the White House in 2024.

Internet mocks Eric Trump’s prediction as the crimes from Trump’s past come haunting

Eric Trump's forecast that his father's presidential campaign will be strengthened by the Colorado state Supreme Court's decision against him on Tuesday was mocked by many on X.

One X user wrote: “Prediction: your daddys going to jail!"

Another user remarked: "Prediction: Trump found guilty over the summer - Trump drops out of race soon ... Let's see who is closer."

Another user said: "It won’t matter! More states will follow!!!"

One user tweeted: "Hey, eric. If he can't be on the ballot in several states, he sure can't swear himself in as president even if he won. The 14th amendment, Section 3 is clear on that."

Another X user stated: "One thing is clear. Trump was found to have engaged in insurrection by a State Supreme Court!"

Finally, this user tweeted: "Prediction: None of this matter when he’s sentenced to 1000 years in prison."
