LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: As Simu Liu gears up to host the 2024 People's Choice Awards, the actor took to social media to address concerns among Taylor Swift fans.

Liu, who has previously expressed his admiration for Swift, assured Swifties that there would be "no Taylor slander" during the upcoming awards show.

Liu's statement comes in the wake of backlash faced by Golden Globes host Jo Koy for making a joke about Taylor Swift during the recent Golden Globes ceremony.

Koy's quip involved a comparison between Swift's screen time at the Globes and her appearances at NFL games to support her boyfriend, Travis Kelce.

In a tweet on X, Liu made his stance clear, stating, "There will be no Taylor slander at the 2024 PCAs, that's a personal guarantee."

Swift's reaction to Koy's joke, captured on camera, went viral as she maintained a stone-faced expression and took a sip from her glass, signaling her lack of amusement.

In a subsequent interview with the Los Angeles Times, Jo Koy defended himself, claiming to be a Swiftie and expressing confusion over the "Taylor tiff." He asserted that the joke was misread and not intended to offend Taylor Swift or her fans.

Internet reacts to Simu Liu's pledge against 'Taylor Slander' 

Simu Liu's assurance that there will be "no Taylor slander" during his hosting of the 2024 People's Choice Awards has stirred reactions on the internet.

One user emphasized the changing attitudes toward jokes, stating, "It wasn't slander at all. It was a joke. People use to be able to take jokes back in the day. Now everyone gets offended by them."
