LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Social media users recently called for a mass boycott of JK Rowling's children's book 'The Christmas Pig' which has entered the early stages of production to transform into a movie adaptation.

Rowling who has been cozying up to many controversies recently due to her stance on transgenders and their rights, hit back at politicians and accused them of prioritizing transgender activist groups more while avoiding the betterment of women and children, in a prolonged rant.

On the other hand, Rowling also ignited a sense of feud between her and 'Harry Potter' stars Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson, as she slammed them publically for advocating transgender rights and the research that affirmed young children can transition genders.

JK Rowling's 'The Christmas Pig' set to become movie

Variety Magazine reports that Rowling's children's book, 'The Christmas Pig', is heading to the big screen for a film adaptation. The project is still in its early stages without a production company attached yet.

First published in 2021 with illustrations by Jim Field, 'The Christmas Pig' has already seen promotional videos courtesy of Swift Films.

As stated by Variety, the book follows Jack, a boy who loses his cherished toy Dur Pig, aka DP, on Christmas Eve. Despite receiving a replacement named Christmas Pig (CP), Jack longs for his original toy. To lift his spirits, CP proposes a daring plan to shrink down and journey to the Land of the Lost to find DP.

Rowling drew inspiration from her son's twin toy pigs for the story, though she's best known for her 'Harry Potter' series, which has expanded into films, theme parks, and more. In 2023, Warner Bros announced plans for a new TV adaptation of the 'Harry Potter' books.

The announcement of 'The Christmas Pig' movie adaptation stirred up controversy among online users. Rowling's problematic stance on transgender rights has sparked considerable backlash and calls for a boycott.
