Internet wonders if Elon Musk is the 'labor guy' now as X funds Gina Carano's lawsuit against Disney
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The online community is pondering whether Elon Musk has turned "pro-worker" as the tech mogul's X is reportedly funding Gina Carano's legal battle against Disney over a controversial post.
Carano, previously known for her role in 'The Mandalorian', is taking Disney and Lucasfilm to court over alleged discrimination tied to her social media posts, with Musk said to be footing the bill.
The lawsuit, filed in a California federal court, charges Disney and Lucasfilm with wrongful termination and discrimination. It demands the court to order Lucasfilm to recast her and seeks damages of at least $75,000, per Daily Mail.

Carano portrayed the character of Cara Dune in the first two seasons of 'The Mandalorian', streaming on Disney+.
However, she faced severe backlash for a post she shared on Instagram in February 2021.
The post read, "Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors even by children."
It went on, "Because history is edited, most people today don´t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews."
"How is that any different from hating someone for their political views?"
Carano was dismissed from 'The Mandalorian' cast in the wake of public uproar over her social media posts.
This was the culmination of a series of social media posts that ignited controversy, including purportedly endorsing allegations of voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election.
She also faced accusations of ridiculing gender pronouns by including "beep/bop/boop" in her social media bio, a space where users typically specify their preferred pronouns such as he/him/his or they/them/theirs.
Musk is backing the lawsuit after vowing to finance legal actions initiated by individuals alleging discrimination for posts on X, even though some of Carano's posts were made on Instagram.
X's head of business operations Joe Benarroch stated, "As a sign of X Corp's commitment to free speech, we're proud to provide financial support for Gina Carano's lawsuit, empowering her to seek vindication of her free speech rights on X and the ability to work without bullying, harassment, or discrimination."
In the aftermath of Carano's posts, the hashtag #FireGinaCarano gained traction online.

The lawsuit alleges that Disney and Lucasfilm subjected Carano to harassment and defamation for not aligning with their perspectives.
Carano contends that the entertainment behemoth overlooked offensive posts made by her male colleagues directed at Republicans.
The lawsuit further states that Carano was compelled to meet with representatives from the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Discrimination and was asked to issue a public apology.
Carano asserts that she was instructed to meet with Kathleen Kennedy, the president of Lucasfilm, and staff members who identified as LGBTQ+.
Upon her refusal to attend the meeting, she was promptly dismissed from 'The Mandalorian' and other 'Star Wars' franchises.
On the same day, her agency severed ties with her. However, they are not implicated in the lawsuit.
Carano shared on Facebook, "The truth is I was being hunted down from everything I posted to every post I liked because I was not in line with the acceptable narrative of the time."
She also thanked Musk for bringing "my case to light," as reported by Daily Mail.
Internet wonders if Elon Musk has turned 'pro-worker'
The online community is questioning Elon Musk's stance on workers' rights, recalling the tech mogul's history of employee layoffs.
Musk has reportedly let go of over 6000 staff at Twitter since assuming control of the company, as he disclosed to the BBC.
A Facebook user commented, "Gee, suddenly Musk is pro-worker? The guy who fired people because he didn't like what they said about him?"
Another person stated, "Who knew that the guy who cut 80% of Twitter staff is a “Labor guy."
"Weaponization of wealth," opined another.
A user joked, "Think even Walt Disney would support her in this suit."
"Oh dear Space Karen is about to lose more of his money." quipped another.
Someone else remarked, "She wasn't satisfied just being fired by Disney and wants to make sure that no other producers will ever give her a job in the future either."
