'It ain't Kate': Internet supports 'The View' hosts mocking grainy Kate Middleton footage amid theories
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Recent footage purportedly showing Prince William and Kate Middleton at a farmer's market has reignited speculation about the Duchess of Cambridge's whereabouts. However, the hosts of 'The View' wasted no time poking fun at the grainy quality of the video, likening it to a 'Bigfoot sighting'.
According to Thewrap, the clip, which surfaced on social media, depicts the royal couple navigating through a market from a considerable distance and in low resolution.
'The View' hosts' hilarious take
Host Alyssa Farah Griffin couldn't help but jest about the quality of the footage, comparing it to the infamous blurry images associated with purported sightings of the mythical Bigfoot.
“It’s grainy! It looks like a Bigfoot sighting!” Griffin exclaimed with a laugh during Tuesday’s episode.
Skepticism abounded among both online commentators and the "View" panelists, with host Sunny Hostin outright declaring, "That's not Kate!" during the discussion.
Moderator Whoopi Goldberg, however, remained uninterested in entertaining the conspiracy theories, opting to let them "blow themselves out" while she relaxed with her feet up on the table.
“That’s not Kate!” Hostin exclaimed during the conversation on Tuesday.
Unraveling the mystery
The conversation delved further into the speculation, with Hostin suggesting the possibility of a security measure involving body doubles for royals. She pointed out discrepancies in the video, such as the purported Duchess carrying a heavy bag despite recent abdominal surgery, which led her to conclude that the person in the footage wasn't Middleton.
“It’s definitely a security issue, and so every royal has a body double,” Hostin explained. “And if you really close in on that video, which I have done — personally, I have done some Internet sleuthing myself — it’s very clear that the profile is not Kate. And if she did have that abdominal surgery, why is she carrying that big, heavy bag? Ho hoooo! Case closed!”
Examining evidence
Indeed, reports emerged earlier this year of the Duchess undergoing surgery and subsequent hospitalization for two weeks. Co-host Joy Behar quipped that Prince William should have been carrying the bags to make the video more convincing.
“I just don’t know why they can’t put out something more clear to show where she’s been, why she’s been out of the public eye,” Farah Griffin added.
While some expressed frustration at the lack of clarity regarding Middleton's recent activities, co-host Sara Haines admitted that the grainy video was a slight improvement over the doctored photos that fueled previous conspiracy theories.
"Grainy video is better than a doctored photo, can we all agree on that?" Haines remarked, finding common ground among her fellow hosts.
