Keke Palmer asserts timer for retirement has started

According to Deadline, Palmer delved into her future in Hollywood and discussed the possibility of retiring in an interview with Teen Vogue. In the interview published this week, she shared, "I don’t know. I think the timer has started."

Elaborating on her potential retirement, Palmer revealed, “I think it’s because I just haven’t felt it yet. But the timer, I know that it’s around the corner. I don’t know when exactly, but it’s around the corner.”

Addressing the topic of legacies, Palmer expressed her desire for her legacy to be a call to use one's power for good, creating spaces and systems for others to thrive.

According to Deadline, she stated, "I just don’t believe in holding everything. I don’t believe in gatekeeping. I’m not a coward. What would that do? I think it’s based in fear. If I’m speaking on it from a compassionate place, I think people that gatekeep are afraid. So I’m not scared.”

Palmer recently launched the KeyTV platform to support other creators, which aligns with the legacy she aims to leave behind, as reported by Deadline.

Creating this space also provides Palmer with options, as she remains uncertain about her future in showbiz. She remarked, “When I was younger, I used to have so much anxiety. I love to perform, but is that something that can last forever? I think I always would wonder, Is it something that times out? Obviously, you have people that have been acting their entire careers…. but I just never knew how I could scale myself.”

Continuing, as per Deadline, she said, “If you were a lawyer, you want to get to be a partner. I didn’t understand what the version of that was for me. Some people become directors or they become a producer or they become the head of Paramount.”

Recently, the game show 'Password', for which the 30-year-old won an Emmy, has been renewed for a second season, as announced by Jimmy Fallon.

As per Deadline, Palmer is also set to be part of the cast for Aziz Ansari's directorial debut, 'Good Fortune', sharing the screen with notable names like Keanu Reeves and Seth Rogen.
