ARLINGTON, TEXAS: Jake Paul, 27, is gearing up for his highly anticipated fight against Mike Tyson, 58, by drawing inspiration from Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Paul, a social media star turned professional boxer, shared his admiration for Mahomes' work ethic and leadership as he prepares for the showdown.

The match, which streams live on Netflix on Friday, November 15, at 8 pm ET, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, has captivated fans due to the stark contrast in age and experience between Jake Paul and the legendary Mike Tyson.

Paul revealed he finds motivation in Mahomes' consistent excellence. "It’s cliche, but there’s a reason he’s the best," Paul told People.

"He continues to win and continues to show up and be a leader," he added. 

Paul noted Mahomes' focus as a quality he deeply admires, calling it a trait he hopes to emulate in his career.

"He really never has off days, and his focus is something that I admire," Paul told the magazine.

Mahomes exemplifies the caliber of athlete that Paul seeks to associate with in his relentless pursuit to outperform his rivals.

“I believe there’s a lot more talented people out there than me, and naturally gifted or whatever, but my key to success is hard work and outworking them on a daily basis,” Paul stated.

Mike Tyson’s preparation includes unique methods

Mike Tyson has revealed his unconventional inspiration to return to the ring.

Speaking to Interview Magazine, Tyson said he took Toad venom, a substance derived from the Sonoran Desert toad, nearly seven years ago with the help of a shaman.

“You rub it down until it becomes fine sand, and then you smoke it,” Tyson explained, adding, “Then you meet God. And this is what God told me to do."

Tyson shared how the experience made him feel deeply connected, saying, "That I’m nothing, but I’m everything."

He also stated that the fight against Paul won’t significantly impact his life, adding, “This fight is not going to change my life or my finances or nothing," the New York Times reported.

However, he acknowledged the excitement surrounding the bout, noting, “You got a YouTuber that has 70 million fans. And I’m the greatest fighter since the beginning of life, so what does that make? That makes an explosion of excitement."

Tensions rise as Jake Paul and Mike Tyson face off nears

The rivalry took a dramatic turn during the final weigh-in when Mike Tyson slapped Jake Paul, sparking widespread online reactions.

Tom Patti, a close friend of Tyson, later clarified the incident, telling USA Today, “Jake stepped on Mike’s foot, that prompted the reaction...I was there and Mike just told me.”



 

Despite the unexpected altercation, Paul remains confident in his preparation, revealing that his sparring partners are mimicking Tyson's moves.

“I have a feel for what it’s going to be like to fight Tyson,” he said, adding, “I think it’s going to be a great night for me.”

At 58, Tyson will become one of the oldest boxers to compete in a sanctioned professional fight, taking on an opponent less than half his age. Still, Tyson brushed off concerns about his age, saying, "You’re only as old as you feel."
