SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS: Jalen Brunson came out in support of sports analyst Monica McNutt after her “Get out of here, girl” comment about Taylor Swift during Game 4 of the NBA Finals last week.

The New York Knicks star defended the radio analyst as she interviewed the NBA champion following his team’s historic win in San Antonio on Saturday night, June 13. Brunson urged fans of the pop icon to ease up after many criticized the ESPN personality online.

“I just wanna say something to the Swifties. She’s a really good one,” the 29-year-old athlete said.

He further added, “Cut her some slack. It’s all good, I promise.” To which McNutt replied, “Thank you. I appreciate it.”

Monica McNutt questions Taylor Swift’s Knicks fandom

This came after McNutt and fellow announcer Tyler Murray discussed the Grammy winner on Wednesday, June 10, when she was sitting courtside at Madison Square Garden with her friends Alana and Este Haim.

When McNutt asked, “Is that Taylor Swift down there?” Murray did not seem sure. But the 36-year-old asserted that it was Swift by describing her “long ponytail” and “blue” outfit.

Murray immediately took out his phone to take a picture of the ‘Cruel Summer’ hitmaker for his wife. But McNutt said, “She’s not a Knicks fan. Get out of here, girl.”

Monica McNutt apologizes to Taylor Swift

Following the backlash, McNutt apologized for her comment. She, however, noted that she had not seen Swift at a Knicks home game all season.

“I misspoke. I did not know, but here's the deal. I literally just did a piece on celebrity row. I know these folks: Ben Stiller, his wife Christine, Spike Lee. I had not seen her here, this year or last year,” the 880 ESPN New York Knicks lead radio analyst stated.

McNutt further asserted, “We just saw her in Cleveland with her fiance. Obviously, Travis [Kelce] supports the Cavs. She didn’t have on any Knicks paraphernalia. So, I did not know of her Knicks loyalty,” before adding, “But shoutout to T-Swift. We can be united in orange and blue.”

Amar'e Stoudemire defends Taylor Swift as Knicks fan

Meanwhile, former New York Knicks star Amar'e Stoudemire came to Swift’s defense and described her as a “Knicks fan.”

“Yeah, so the Knicks fan, from my understanding, I mean, back when I played, uh, we had a great friendship,” he shared in an interview.

Stoudemire added, “She was able to come to the next practice; we took her through the basketball court. We had her dunk the basketball, sat down and had a beautiful conversation with her and her family. It was a great time, and I think she, I think, honestly, she's a Knicks fan, and so, I hope so.”
