LONDON, ENGLAND: Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have officially swapped Hollywood glam for the rolling English countryside, and it looks like they’ve found the perfect tour guide for their new life in the UK - controversial TV host James Corden.
The former 'Late Late Show' host has reportedly been helping Ellen adjust to the quirks of British life after she and Portia packed their bags and moved out of the US for good.
The couple made the move to the Cotswolds last year, and sources say their relocation wasn’t just about fresh air and country estates - it was a direct response to Donald Trump’s election win.
Has Ellen DeGeneres 'left' the US?
A source spilled to The Sun, “James has been explaining all the quirks of UK life. It can be quite a minefield. The other week they enjoyed dinner out in London.”
And it looks like Ellen and Portia are embracing the high life in their new home. Earlier this month, the couple was spotted at the ultra-exclusive Chiltern Firehouse in London, toasting Portia’s 52nd birthday.
Despite Ellen’s very public vow to “leave for good” after Trump’s victory in November, she was spotted back in the States just weeks ago.
Paparazzi caught her visiting Casa Dorinda, an elite Montecito retirement community that once housed the legendary Julia Child. Nobody knows exactly who Ellen was there to see, but the rumor mill is spinning.
Some speculate she was visiting Portia’s mother, Margaret Rogers, who sold her Westlake Village home in 2020 - possibly relocating to the five-star senior living spot.
So, while Ellen may have “left” America, she and Portia clearly haven’t cut ties completely with their old stomping grounds.
Meanwhile, if you're wondering what Ellen and Portia’s UK hideaway looks like: It’s insanely luxurious, in a nutshell.
A lavish estate in the Cotswolds for Ellen DeGeneres
Nestled in the rolling hills of the Cotswolds — just 100 miles from London — their multi-million-pound farmhouse is straight out of a storybook. And when they saw it, they had to have it immediately. So much so that they reportedly paid £2.5 million (about $3 million) over the asking price to seal the deal.
Originally built as a farmhouse, the estate was transformed 15 years ago into a six-bedroom, four-bathroom dream home, complete with a gym, game rooms, and separate offices. But they didn't sacrifice charm for modern luxury - the original barns remain, now connected to the main house via glass passageways.
The property also boasts a helicopter pad and swimming pool, according to the Daily Mail.
If you thought Ellen and Portia would be tucked away in some remote village - not really. The Cotswolds is basically Beverly Hills for British aristocracy and celebs. Their star-studded neighbors include David and Victoria Beckham, Kate Moss, Patrick Stewart, Elizabeth Hurley, Jeremy Clarkson, and Damien Hirst.
And it’s not just A-listers - King Charles himself owns Highgrove House in Gloucestershire.
A flooded fairytale and the Trump effect
Ellen and Portia’s countryside escape hasn’t been all smooth sailing. Just a few weeks ago, their 43-acre estate was nearly swallowed by Storm Bert’s floodwaters. For a minute, it seemed like the couple might be trapped in their rural paradise, but they made it through unscathed.
Ellen later reassured fans with a loved-up Instagram selfie celebrating her 20-year anniversary with Portia, calling her the “best friend” and “love of my life” - before cheekily adding: “P.S. for those of you concerned, our UK farmhouse did NOT flood.”

While reports of Ellen and Portia’s Cotswolds purchase date back to October, sources say their final decision to leave the US was sealed by Trump’s win. An insider told TMZ the couple was “very disillusioned” and wanted to “get the hell out” after the election.
Of course, they’re not the only stars who threatened to flee America post-election. Celebs like Cher, Barbra Streisand, Sharon Stone, and Sophie Turner have all hinted at leaving if Trump won. However, most of them haven’t actually done it.
