Jamie Foxx reveals 2023 health crisis was nothing like how he had imagined his death

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jamie Foxx is recalling the conversation he had about preparing his affairs just before suffering a near-death medical emergency in 2023.
The actor, 57, suffered a brain bleed that led to a stroke while working on his film 'Back in Action.'
Foxx said the way he went out was not how he had imagined he would die.

Before the incident, Jamie Foxx had a conversation with his team that now seems haunting in retrospect.
"You know what's crazy? Before it happened, I was talking to my people that handle my stuff," Foxx recalled.
They asked him, "Jamie, wanna go over some papers just in case something happens?'" Foxx told People on Wednesday, March 12.
He recalled asking his team, "What's gonna happen to me?" Shortly after, he suffered a medical crisis that put him in a coma for weeks.
"Boom! Gone," Foxx said, referring to how quickly he lost consciousness after the health scare.

Jamie Foxx reflected on how his real-life health emergency was nothing like what he had imagined his death might be.
"I used to watch the movie 'Colors,' when they had a shootout ... I thought I was gonna go out like Rocket [Don Cheadle], like go out in a shootout in the mall or something," Foxx said.

"I didn't think I was just gonna go out asking for an aspirin," he added.
Jamie Foxx says he will 'put more smiles on people's faces'
Jamie Foxx shared that he was overwhelmed by the love and support he received after the health scare.
Reflecting on the experience, he added, "When I was talking to [God], he said, 'Hey man, I'm gonna give you the second chance — what you gonna do with it?'"

His answer? "I said, 'I'm gonna put more smiles on people's faces and I'm gonna do everything I can to,'" he said.
Foxx shared his experience in a Netflix standup comedy special titled 'What Had Happened Was ... ', which premiered in December 2024.
"I got some new jokes coming, so I'm going out," he said, adding "I'll probably be in Houston doing my thing."
