WASHINGTON, DC: For some critics, Bad Bunny headlining the Super Bowl halftime show is more than just a musical choice—it is a provocation. Sports journalist Jason Whitlock went all out on Monday on TMZ Live, branding the NFL’s pick as “demonic” and vowing to oppose it at every step.

Whitlock claimed the decision was political trolling orchestrated by Democratic California politicians, including Governor Gavin Newsom, in response to “a recent pro-Christian memorial” for activist Charlie Kirk.

Jason Whitlock cites ‘difference’ in Bad Bunny’s performance

During the discussion, hosts Harvey Levin and Charles Latibeaudiere challenged Jason Whitlock’s claim, asking whether Morgan Wallen’s past controversies, including drinking and chair-throwing, would be labeled similarly if he were the halftime performer. Whitlock responded with a firm no, arguing there is a significant difference.

He pointed to what he perceives as deeper cultural concerns, using phrases like “grooming kids” and “drag shows” to underline his point. Whitlock also insisted that he understands how American sports were founded on Christian values.

Jason Whitlock slams Bad Bunny as non-English-speaking rapper

On his YouTube show, Jason Whitlock criticized Bad Bunny as a non-English-speaking rapper. “They have selected a Latin, gay, hip-hop, no-English-speaking rapper to perform at the Super Bowl this year. His name is Bad Bunny. I had heard the name,” Whitlock said.

“And once you start going down the rabbit hole, this is a demonic rapper selected by Jay-Z and the National Football League to promote demonic activity. And I think it’s a reaction in part, partially, to what the Charlie Kirk memorial sparked,” he added, calling the event a “terrific moment of religious revival.”.

Jason Whitlock links halftime show to politics and culture wars

Jason Whitlock argued that Bad Bunny’s placement on the halftime stage was no coincidence, tying it to what he sees as California Democrats’ agenda.

“And the Super Bowl this year is in Northern California, and that is the headquarters of Gavin Newsom and Kamala Harris and Nancy Pelosi and just this whole revolutionary Marxist left-wing. That’s their headquarters, Northern California,” he alleged.

Whitlock also said the move is a “slap in the face to not only President Donald Trump and MAGA supporters but to Americans everywhere.”

He further criticized the fact that Bad Bunny primarily performs in Spanish.

“And so Bad Bunny, Puerto Rican rapper, not one song does he sing in English. Not one. So we’re about to have a halftime show where most of the audience will have no idea what’s going on,” Whitlock said.
