"I do not believe for a second that if John McCain were alive today and he sees what's going on at the American Southern border, that he would support Kamala Harris and all the destruction that she's brought," said Vance.

JD Vance made the comments as a response to a local reporter's question about Jimmy McCain, the youngest son of John and Cindy McCain, who recently confirmed he would vote for Harris in the November election.

Dismissed the significance of family endorsements, the Ohio senator said, "I mean, look, who cares what somebody's family thinks about a presidential race. I care about what these people care about."

Donald Trump and John McCain’s strained relationship

During the Arizona rally, JD Vance also addressed the past tensions between Donald Trump and John McCain.

"He's a war hero because he was captured. I like people that weren't captured," Trump said of McCain in 2015.

Despite the controversial remarks, Vance claimed that both Trump and McCain were capable of putting personal grievances aside for the greater good of the country.
