PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance took a subtle jab at Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris and mocked her with his "curry and fried chicken" statement on Sunday, September 15, per TMZ.

During NBC's 'Meet The Press' interview recently, Vance was asked about Laura Loomer's racist statement that the White House would "smell like curry" if Harris won.

JD Vance replied to the question saying, "What Laura Loomer said is not what we should be focused on. We should be focused on the policies and issues."

"So, yeah, do I agree about what Laura Loomer said about Kamala Harris? No, I don’t."

"Laura Loomer is not affiliated with the Trump campaign. She said something about curry in the White House that I first read about this morning, actually, because I knew you would ask me about it," Vance added.

He then said they should focus on Harris' policies instead.

"Kamala Harris is running for president and whether you’re eating curry at your dinner table or fried chicken, things have gotten more expensive thanks to her policies," Vance said.

"Let’s talk about the person running for the president of the United States, not a social media personality who supports Donald Trump."

Notably, Vance made the statement despite his wife Usha being of Indian-American heritage.

After Vance faced backlash for his comments, a spokesperson for Vance told the outlet, "The media is making a story up out of thin air. Senator Vance was referring to the fact that he prefers fried chicken, and his wife prefers curry chicken. Fried chicken was a staple in the Vance household when JD was a kid, as he wrote in 'Hillbilly Elegy'."

JD Vance mocks Kamala Harris for avoiding media

In August 2024, Kamala Harris and JD Vance both landed on the same tarmac in Eau Claire for campaign events where the GOP running mate accused Harris of dodging important questions about her campaign.

He said, "I figured I’d come by— one, just to get a good look at the plane, hopefully it’s going to be my plane in a few months— but I also thought you guys might be lonely because the vice president doesn’t answer questions from reporters."

He added, "I think it’d be good for you all if she actually ran a real campaign instead of one from her basement with teleprompters."

He talked about many contradictions in Harris’ campaign, such as her past as a prosecutor and her support for defunding police. He said, "It’s disgraceful that she runs from you guys."

Internet slams JD Vance for his 'curry and fried chicken' statement

Many people on the internet slammed JD Vance and called him out for his racist behavior as he mocked Kamala Harris with his "curry and fried chicken" statement during an NBC interview.

A user wrote on X, "Curry or fried chicken... so he's doubling down on racist stereotypes!?", while one added, "He also claimed to make a 'mean chicken curry' which I need someone to fact check because I'm guessing he's limited to uncrustables and pop tarts."

A person also stated, "He slid in two racist slurs in one sentence. There should be no doubt that Vance believes only White men should be protected by the Constitution."

Another mentioned, "JD Vance's kids are half Indian just like Kamala Harris is and he can't stand up for them, what a POS."

A user also wrote, "He insulted both of her cultures in one swipe, how would he feel if people went after Usha.

Anothe remarked, "Could have said anything, chose fried chicken."
