WASHINGTON, DC: Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance has called Taylor Swift a "disconnected" billionaire celebrity.

During an interview on Wednesday, September 11, Vance played down the ‘Karma’ singer for openly endorsing Harris.

"We admire Taylor Swift's music but I don't think most Americans, whether they like her music or are fans of her or not, are going to be influenced by a billionaire celebrity," he said.

Vance also added that Swift is not aware of the "interests and the problems of most Americans," per Fox News.

Many found JD Vance's "billionaire celebrity" comment a bit confusing since his Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump's net worth is beyond $1 billion, according to USA Today.

Earlier, Swift shared her political leaning over her Instagram post, stating her support for Kamala Harris, “I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them.”

Swift also posted a photo of her with her cat. “I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos,” she added, taking a jab at Vance.

Internet trolls JD Vance over downplaying Taylor Swift's endorsement for Kamala Harris

Netizens ridiculed JD Vance on his reaction to Taylor Swift endorsing Democratic nominee Kamala Harris. The Senator questioned the singer's ability to connect with regular Americans amid her billionaire status.

A user shared on X, "He's right. We are not going to be influenced by trump, a celebrity who has never grocery shopped in his life and has had servants doing everything for him since the day he was born. But Taylor swift has had 300k+ people register to vote from her instagram link since last night."

"Is it possible to have negative self-awareness?" trolled another individual.

One expressed, "Let him talk. That should work well for him and the Donald."

"Don't underestimate Women and the power of the Swifties. FAFO JD Vance," another said.

A person joked, "Man, they are making it really easy for the Harris/Walz campaign team. More free content."

"Meanwhile, his running mate is a billionaire celebrity who is fundamentally disconnected from the interests and problems of most Americans. Kinda funny how that works, eh?" one penned.

One asked, "Is he really this dense he doesn't know that by his rationale that would also apply to Trump?"
