WASHINGTON, DC: Vice President JD Vance's mic drop moment from a Turning Point USA event in October 2025 has resurfaced online, drawing attention for his blunt comments on immigration.

The clip reappeared on X following President Donald Trump's decision to pause immigration from “Third World” countries. Trump made the announcement a day after two National Guard members were shot in Washington, DC, on November 26, one of whom later died from her injuries.

JD Vance answered questions on multiple topics at an Ole Miss Turning Point event in late October, in a format reminiscent of the Charlie Kirk debates.

During the event, a member of the audience asked, "Why are you pushing out policies that hurt immigrants? These policies are not even solving the problems."

Vance replied, "There are too many people who want to come in. My job as vice president is not to look out for the interests of the whole world. It's to look out for the people of the United States." The audience responded with loud applause.

The clip resurfaced as Trump announced a "permanent pause" on migration from "all Third World Countries" on November 27, following the DC shooting.

Trump posted on Truth Social, “I will permanently pause migration from all Third World Countries to allow the US system to fully recover, terminate all of the millions of Biden illegal admissions.”

The suspect in the DC shooting was identified as 29-year-old Rahmanullah Lakanwal, who arrived in the US in 2021.

DHS arrests several illegal immigrants in New Orleans

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed it arrested multiple illegal immigrants in New Orleans within 24 hours of launching Operation Catahoula Crunch, a crackdown targeting illegal immigrants.

The DHS announced on December 4 that officers had made several arrests in the city just a day after launching the operation.

Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement, "Americans should be able to live without fear of violent criminal illegal aliens harming them, their families, or their neighbors."

In the first 24 hours, DHS officers arrested criminal illegal aliens with records including murder, kidnapping, child abuse, and robbery.

DHS also released photos of the arrested individuals, who came from countries including Vietnam, Honduras, Guatemala, and the Dominican Republic.
