WASHINGTON DC: Lauren Sanchez, fiancee of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, faced backlash online for her choice of outfit at Donald Trump's inauguration on Monday, January 20.

The ceremony, held inside the Capitol Rotunda due to freezing temperatures, saw the billionaire’s partner wearing a controversial dress deemed “incredibly inappropriate” for the occasion by internet users.

This marked the first time since 1985 that a presidential inauguration was held indoors, as Trump was sworn in as the 47th president of the United States.

The ceremony attracted several world leaders and notable figures, including Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

Lauren Sanchez’s dress resembled an outfit she wore at the 2024 Forbes Power Women’s Summit in September, the Daily Mail reported.

After taking off her coat, the journalist could be seen donning a white pantsuit, with a matching jacket and her white lace lingerie peaking through, which shocked social media users who felt it was not appropriate for the sophisticated event.

One night before the inauguration, Sanchez mingled with the president's daughter Ivanka Trump at a candlelight dinner held at the National Building Museum in Washington, DC.

She donned a black Dolce and Gabbana gown. Describing the evening, Sanchez wrote on Instagram, “Magical evening.”
