NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Former White House Press Secretary and the host of ‘The Briefing with Jen Psaki’, Jen Psaki criticized the Trump administration for coming to the ICE agent's defence, who fatally shot the 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis.
She slammed Trump and allies for calling Good a domestic extremist, noting that the evidence circulating online presented a different story.
She called the Trump administration's narrative "disgusting and ridiculous," claiming the new footage proved that the ICE agent was right to fear for his life.
Jen Psaki reacts to cellphone footage of the Minneapolis shooting
During a segment of her MS NOW show on Saturday, January 10, Jen Psaki played the recently acquired footage from Jonathan Ross’s phone, during which Good told him that she wasn’t mad at him.
Psaki argued that from the video, it was evident that Good pulled the vehicle forward a little, and Ross gestured for the vehicle to pass her.
“From there, two things happen on opposite sides of the car simultaneously. The shooter continues circling the car,” Psaki explained.
As Psaki further described the video, she stated that if people listened to the clip closely, they could hear Good telling the ICE agents to go around just before Ross told them to get out of the car.
Psaki stated that Renee backed her car away from the agents in an attempt to leave.
“And today’s new video shows her hands turning the steering wheel, clearly pointing the car in the opposite direction as the agents before she proceeds to drive forward,” she said.
The MS NOW correspondent stated that during the video, it was evident that the wheels of Good’s car were already turned away from the federal agents before she put the car in motion.
ICE agents refuse to let physician help Renee Good after shooting
During her segment, Jen Psaki stated that Jonathan Ross shot Renee Good three times, and when her car slammed into another, the agents did not rush to help her.
However, when he approached the car, he urged his fellow agents to call 911 while bystanders slammed him for his actions.
Someone, who identified himself as a physician, asked the agent if he could check if Good had a pulse, but the ICE official told him to back up.
“I don’t care,” the ICE agent said.
