Jennifer Aniston admits to having a ‘crush’ on Ben Affleck amid his marital woes with Jennifer Lopez
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: When Jennifer Aniston and Ben Affleck shared the screen in 2009 romantic comedy 'He’s Just Not That Into You,' it wasn’t just their on-screen chemistry that captivated audiences.
Now, sources tell In Touch that Aniston is hoping for a chance to reconnect as Affleck faces a potential split from Jennifer Lopez.
Jennifer Aniston might have a thing for Ben Affleck beyond reel-life
Aniston and Affleck's collaboration might have sparked a real-life connection as a close friend of the 'Friends' star revealed, "Jen’s had a bit of a crush on Ben for years," adding, “But he’s always been tied up in serious relationships. Now, with things shifting, there’s a glimmer of hope.”
In May, In Touch reported that Affleck, 51, and JLo, 55, were “on the brink of divorce,” with Ben recently moving out of their shared home.
The outlet also reported that Affleck was thrilled that his tumultuous marriage to Jennifer Lopez was ending and planned to celebrate his newfound freedom with a grand party.
“Ben just wants to get away from it all and enjoy himself again and he wants to take his close friends with him,” a source said back then, adding, “He’s talking about arranging a big blowout at his place in Georgia, which is pretty ironic since that’s where he and JLo had their big wedding.”
Though neither Affleck nor JLo has publicly confirmed the rumors, recent incidents suggest trouble.
For instance, Affleck was seen reportedly looking somber while having a chat with ex-wife Jennifer Garner on June 11. Moreover, he has also moved to Garner's neighborhood - all while having his ring on.
“The writing is on the wall – it’s over,” an insider told In Touch.
He not only missed JLo’s birthday celebration in the Hamptons, but on the same day, he also finalized the purchase of a new home in Los Angeles.
Jennifer Aniston and Ben Affleck's notable on-screen chemistry
In the 2009 romantic comedy-drama 'He's Just Not That Into You', Aniston plays the character Beth Murphy, while Affleck portrays Neil.
While they have not collaborated on any other projects, their performance in this film remains a notable example of their on-screen chemistry.
“They did work together on 'He’s Just Not That Into You' 15 years ago but they were trying to figure out a project together for years before then, and they still keep each other in mind for stuff,” an insider revealed.
The insider added, “There’s a very friendly and flirty open line of communication between them, plus a boatload of mutual friends — everybody from Jon Hamm to Sandra Bullock, who can totally see Ben and Jen becoming a couple down the road.”
It seems Affleck and JLo's romance might be reaching its final chapter, but it's worth noting that he has often been out of reach for Aniston.
After Jennifer Aniston's split from Brad Pitt in 2005, Affleck was tied up in his marriage to Garner until 2018. Meanwhile, Aniston found new love with Justin Theroux, though that relationship ended in 2017, and she’s been single ever since.
Despite the twists and turns in their love lives, the Emmy-winning actress might still be drawn to the 'Good Will Hunting' star if he ever becomes available again.
