Jennifer Aniston’s slim hopes for reconciliation with ex Justin Theroux dashed by his recent engagement
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Watching an ex getting remarried hurts!
At least that is the case for Jennifer Aniston, as a source close to the ‘FRIENDS’ actress told Life & Style that a part of her is hurt, knowing any chance of reconciliation with her ex, Justin Theroux, is gone after his engagement announcement.
The source shared that the 55-year-old actress was harboring a little hope that there could be a reconciliation on the cards since they parted ways as friends in 2018.
Jennifer Aniston hoped to ‘reconcile’ with Justin Theroux
On August 28, Justin Theroux, 53, revealed his engagement with the actress Nicole Brydon Bloom as the pair walked the red carpet for the Venice International Film Festival premiere of his latest film, ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’.
The 30-year-old Nicole Brydon Bloom looked stunning in a white high-collared gown, proudly displaying the four-carat emerald-cut diamond on her ring finger.
While it is certainly a new beginning for the couple, who have been linked at least since February 2023, the insider shared that the ‘Morning Show’ actress might have felt differently.
For Aniston, Theroux’s engagement likely feels like the final blow to any hopes of reconciliation.
The ‘Murder Mystery’ actress, who was married to the ‘Mulholland Drive’ actor from 2015 to 2018, parted ways on friendly terms when they finalized their divorce.
The source shared with the outlet that “the fact that they remained friends gave Jen hope that they could possibly reconcile someday. So it stung to hear that Justin has moved on once and for all and gotten engaged.”
They emphasized that while Aniston isn't pining after her ex, "A small part of her heart really did believe that a reunion with Justin could happen." The insider continued, “When he and Jen got married, she truly thought he was going to be her forever guy.”
The former couple tied the knot after becoming friends in 2007, following years of dating. “They were a good match, and Jen hasn’t had the easiest time letting go of what they once shared,” the source revealed about their bittersweet romance.
Jennifer Aniston is expected to be left off the guest list for Justin Theroux’s wedding
Though Justin Theroux has previously stated that Jennifer Aniston is still “very dear to” him, the 'The Break-Up' actress is unlikely to be invited to his wedding.
The source revealed, “Even though they’re friends, Jen probably won’t be invited to the wedding,” adding that Aniston has yet to meet Bloom.
They, however, continued, “Jen likely wouldn’t go to the wedding anyway. It would be too difficult for her to watch her ex remarry.”
The source further revealed that the most painful aspect for Aniston is Theroux’s fiancee’s age, as she is only 30. Despite being 23 years younger than the ‘Charlie’s Angels’ actor, the couple may even welcome a child of their own.
“Nicole is 23 years younger than Justin,” shared the source before noting “and they’ll probably start a family. That hurts Jen. She thinks she and Justin would probably still be married today if they’d been able to have a child together themselves.”
In a recent interview with The Times, Theroux revealed that he still feels very protective toward Aniston, stating, "She is still very dear to me."
