Jennifer Lopez claims she and Ben Affleck 'both have PSTD' from public scrutiny during first romance
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jennifer Lopez has opened up about her romance with husband Ben Affleck, whom she first dated in the early 2000s before breaking up with him.
The singer also shared the aftermath she and the 51-year-old filmmaker faced after their infamous breakup earlier while promoting her upcoming ‘This Is Me… Now’ album and the film of the same name.
‘This is me following my heart’
Lopez told Variety, “As artists, we have to follow our heart and this is me following my heart and doing something that maybe everybody didn’t think was the best idea, but I had to do it.”
The Latin pop culture icon’s new album and the movie will be out to the public on February 16, marking the 20th anniversary of her ‘This Is Me…Then’.
The new release will include details of Lopez’s romance with her husband, with whom she was about to tie the knot years ago.
‘We also know what’s important’
Going public about her private life is reportedly making the ‘On The Floor’ hitmaker anxious as she and her actor husband “both have PTSD” because of the scrutiny they faced during their first dating period.

But Lopez told the publication that “we’re older now. We’re wiser. We also know what’s important, what’s really important in life, and it’s not so much what other people think. It’s about being true to who you are.”
‘My answer was always… in love
Also, ‘The Mother’ star shed light on the upcoming feature when asked if it’s a scripted one or a documentary.
She shared, “You have to see it and you’ll have to experience it to understand it. That’s why I call it a ‘musical experience.’ Because there’s music, you can see it, you can hear it and then you’ll get to live it.”
In the teaser of the movie, Lopez was reportedly heard saying, “When I was a little girl when someone asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, my answer was always… in love.”

‘Ben wants me to understand my worth’
Lopez and the ‘Good Will Hunting’ actor exchanged vows in 2022.
Following their marriage, the actress reportedly said, “I'm finally at the point in my life where I love every part of myself unapologetically. Every part of me, my body, my voice, my choices, even like my mistakes. All of it made me who I am and got me to where I am today.”
