Jennifer Lopez in 'crisis talks' over ex Sean 'Diddy' Combs arrest as 1999 NYC shooting comes to light
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: According to sources, Jennifer Lopez is concerned about being drawn back into Sean "Diddy" Combs' legal troubles as more people revisit the Natania Reuben New York City shooting.
Following the disgraced rapper and producer's arrest on Monday, September 16, his former girlfriend seemed to be keeping herself busy.
Lopez, 55, and Diddy, 54, dated between 1999 and 2001 with the songstress later claiming that Diddy's adultery was the reason for their breakup, per Newsweek.
Since their breakup, they’ve had a few brief reunions as friends. However, Lopez has stayed silent regarding Diddy's arrest and the ongoing legal actions against him.
Jennifer Lopez in 'crisis talks' over concerns that Diddy's arrest could impact her reputation
Jennifer Lopez was still in a relationship with Sean "Diddy" Combs when they became entangled in the 1999 New York City shooting scandal.
The nightclub incident involving the former couple, along with the rapper's bodyguard, Anthony "Wolf" Jones, and his protege, Moses "Shyne" Barrow, left three people injured, including Natania Reuben, who had bullet fragments lodged in her face.
The former couple fled the scene with Jones but were later apprehended. Police detained them after finding a pistol in their vehicle. Lopez was cleared of any wrongdoing and released from jail after a few hours.
The incident has resurfaced in the public eye as witnesses from the case have started discussing Diddy's recent allegations.
According to sources, although no formal steps have been taken to reopen the case, Lopez fears that Diddy's troubled past may eventually catch up with her.
With Diddy and Lopez's past resurfacing, the singer's team has been working diligently to devise a plan, according to Daily Mail sources on Saturday, September 21.
They explained, "Jennifer Lopez’s team are on high alert as they anticipate some drama as more people revisit the shooting of Natania Reuben," per Perez Hilton.
Amid Diddy's ongoing legal troubles, there have been calls to reopen the previous case, as Natania Reuben has consistently claimed that the rapper, formerly known as Puff Daddy, shot her.
The insider continued, "There were crisis talks this week to discuss how, and if, Jennifer should respond if the ongoing case triggers the past. Jennifer was present when the incident happened and a lot of people in the industry are looking at her sideways."
Though Lopez was present during the incident and is now facing suspicion from some in the industry, the 'Atlas' star has never publicly addressed the fateful New York City event.
Another insider stated that the singer's team is making every effort to ensure the mother of two isn't "blindsided" by the possibility of being linked to her ex-boyfriend's scandal.
They said, "Everyone that was ever connected with Diddy is now going to be looked at, and Jen has people looking into it all. She doesn’t believe any negative impact will come from whatever happens to Diddy, but will do anything to avoid any future crisis."
However, a third confidant revealed that Lopez is feeling anxious, prompting her inner circle to prepare. They shared, "If they reopen this case, it would drag her back into this situation that she has tried for the past 25 years to forget."
"She has had the worst year of her life and this entire thing with Diddy is just old wounds," they added.
Jennifer Lopez's activities following ex Sean 'Diddy' Combs' arrest
Jennifer Lopez's former partner, Sean "Diddy" Combs, was detained earlier this week on serious allegations of trafficking, racketeering, and transportation. Despite the turmoil in her personal and professional life, the 'On The Floor' singer has managed to stay busy.
After two years of marriage, Lopez recently filed for divorce from Ben Affleck, but the two appear to get along well. Since the August 20 filing, the soon-to-be ex-spouses have been spotted together multiple times.
Lopez backed the Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris at an online event hosted by Oprah Winfrey on Thursday, September 19, according to Newsweek.
Meanwhile, Lopez has been actively engaging on her social media platforms to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, promote her Delola cocktail line, and share fan merchandise commemorating the 25th anniversary of her breakthrough album 'On The 6.'
