Jennifer Lopez reveals she had ‘deep fears of being alone’ before rekindling romance with Ben Affleck
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jennifer Lopez recently appeared on the couch of ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’ where she spoke candidly about her latest movie, album, and documentary, ‘This Is Me... Now’.
Terming her getting back with her husband Ben Affleck the “plot twist,” the actress and the musician revealed that before getting back with Affleck she though she would end up being alone.
Jennifer Lopez talks about new movie
Lopez’s latest offering ‘This Is Me… Now’ debuted on February 16, and features a three-part project, including the album, a musical film called ‘This Is Me… Now: A Love Story’ and a documentary, ‘The Greatest Love Story Never Told’.
‘This Is Me… Now’ also happens to be the follow-up project to her third studio album ‘This Is Me… Then’ which was released in 2002. The album documented Lopez’s relationship with Affleck in the early 2000s.
Appearing on the talk show, Lopez recalled her previous album, and said, “At that time, I had fallen in love, and I was so inspired and did this whole album, and it really captured that moment in time — and kind of like a strange plot twist of life, we wound up getting back together 18 years later,” per The Wrap.
Calling 'This Is Me… Now’ her most “honest” album yet, the ‘Maid in Manhattan’ star gushed about her romantic journey with Affleck and said, “I was really inspired to go back in and make music again in that same way.”
The 54-year-old diva explained, “I am much better at it now and it took a lot of work, it takes a lot of work to change anything about yourself and the patterns – that is what the movie is about, changing patterns,” before adding, “This is not a fairy tale...this is a real tale.”
Jennifer Lopez learnt how to be her 'own best friend'
During the candid chat, Lopez further admitted that over the years she has really “grown as an artist and a person".
Later, Lopez and Clarkson talked about their “yin-yang” outlook on relationships, with Clarkson saying that she is afraid of being in a relationship as she loses herself. On the other hand, Lopez has had "deep fears of being alone".
Admitting that she “caters” to men, Clarkson said, “We maybe have the same issues but we went in separate ways.”
Lopez explained, “I don't know if it's because I was a middle child or because we had one bed, and we shared a bed with my sisters so I was used to having bodies around,” and added, “I got very comforted by that and I liked that feeling.”
The ‘Hustlers’ star further added that she also had to learn how to navigate life alone and to be “my own best friend".
She said, "I had to work on being by myself," per Daily Mail.
Nevertheless, she concluded that while “it took a lot of work,” she is at a much better place now.
