Jennifer Lopez's new album gets 2nd price cut as passion project finds few takers amid tour cancellation
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jennifer Lopez is not making good money from her latest album.
The ‘Jenny From the Block’ singer’s latest album is now selling at $7.79 after being put on clearance three times, per OK! Magazine.
Lopez’s Target-exclusive vinyl album ‘This Is Me...Now’ has been put on sale from its original price of $25.
Jennifer Lopez cancels 'This Is Me...Now' tour amid marital speculations and poor ticket sales
However, this is not the first time that the album has had a price cut. Previously in June, it got a price cut and was selling for $12.99 at the time.
However, it is not known how long the deal will remain.
In February 2024, the 'Atlas' star launched a three-part project, which included an album, a film, and a documentary. She also announced her 'This Is Me...Now...Live' tour, which has since been canceled.
Although the album debuted in the Top 50 on the Billboard chart, it didn't break into the Top 25 of the Billboard 200. In its first week, the album sold only 14,000 copies.
Although her ‘This Is Me…Now’ tour was initially intended to promote the album, poor ticket sales prompted Lopez to rebrand the tour. It now features all her greatest hits, similar to Madonna’s Celebrations Tour and Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour.
Amid speculated marital issues with Ben Affleck, Lopez announced on May 31 that she was canceling the tour.
She wrote on Instagram, "I am completely heartsick and devastated about letting you down," before adding, "Please know that I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t feel that it was absolutely necessary. I promise I will make it up to you and we will all be together again. I love you all so much. Until next time…"
A representative for LiveNation later shared that she canceled the tour to "be with her children, family and close friends."
Jennifer Lopez reflects on risky investment in passion project
Jennifer Lopez's latest album is marketed as the sequel to her two-decade-old project 'This Is Me...Then,' which produced two of her greatest hits: 'Jenny From The Block' and 'All I Have.'
Although the tri-project series is her passion project, Lopez shared in the accompanying documentary that she was aware of the risk of investing $20 million into it.
She shared, “I didn’t even have to make the record,” before adding, “It’s not like anybody was clamoring for the next JLo record, you know what I mean?” per New York Post.
