Jeremy Strong's turquoise bucket hat becomes Golden Globes meme sensation: 'Looks like Statue of Liberty'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The talk of town is still Jeremy Strong's iconic outfit from the 2025 Golden Globes who made a striking fashion statement in a turquoise velvet suit and matching bucket hat by Loro Piana.
Strong, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Roy Cohn in 'The Apprentice', accessorized his eye-catching blazer and pants with black shoes, a wristwatch, turquoise sunglasses, and a soft white turtleneck.
Here's why Jeremy Strong wore turquoise bucket hat and velvet suit to Golden Globes
Jeremy Strong made a statement with a turquoise Loro Piana velvet suit and bucket hat at the 2025 Golden Globes with Anne Hathaway making a lighthearted comparison between the star's appearance and her character from 'The Princess Diaries'.
However, sources revealed to Page Six that the 36-year-old 'Succession' star wore the hat for a very specific reason: He was reportedly hiding his "wild-looking" hair for his next role with Jeremy Allen White in the Bruce Springsteen biopic 'Deliver Me From Nowhere'.
"Jeremy is wearing the hat right now because he’s playing Jon Landau in the Bruce Springsteen movie," the source revealed.
"Because his hair looks so insane [for the role]… because he’s filming that movie, the hat is because he’s covering the crazy hair style playing Bruce Springsteen’s manager. That’s what he’s covering up," the insider continued of Strong's bucket hat look.
Landau, 77, is Springsteen's longterm manager. The balder Landau has, a lot more scant hairline than Strong portraying him, who is known for dissolving into his characters.
According to the insider, Strong's look, which he reportedly kept a secret from even those closest to him before he walked the Golden Globes red carpet, received "tons of fashion love from a lot of the magazines" because of its quirky suit and hat combination.
Vogue remarked, "The most memorable menswear moment went to Jeremy Strong, who pulled off a minty green suit and matching bucket hat. Wacky and fun!"
Jeremy Strong's turquoise bucket hat and velvet suit became social media's newest meme craze
The Emmy-winning actor's jaw-dropping ensemble won over social media even if he missed out on the Golden Globes award. The online memes kept pouring in as one X (formerly Twitter) user wrote, "Jeremy Strong inspired by HBO Girls character Marnie Michaels."
Fans are certain that actress Allison Williams' character Marnie belting 'Stronger' on 'Girls' was the inspiration behind Strong's 'L to the OG' on 'Succession' because of how alike the two look, per Distractify.

STYLIST: Got it. JEREMY STRONG: Paddington’s cousin who sells coke. STYLIST: Okay. JEREMY STRONG: Stanley Tucci playing Gilligan. STYLIST: Right."
Although Jeremy Strong appears to have taken inspiration from a wide range of sources, fans believe the Beastie Boys allusion to be the most accurate.
