MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN: Fox News anchor Jesse Watters claimed that he smelled "a winning ticket" after Republican nominee Donald Trump named Senator JD Vance (R-Ohio) as his running mate on Monday, July 15.

Trump made the announcement in a post on Truth Social while the Republican National Convention was underway. He wrote, "After lengthy deliberation and thought, and considering the tremendous talents of many others, I have decided that the person best suited to assume the position of Vice President of the United States is Senator J.D. Vance of the Great State of Ohio."

According to AP News, Vance used to be a critic of the former president before turning into a loyal ally. During the opening night program of the RNC, he sat next to Trump in his box, after receiving the formal nomination from GOP.

Jesse Watters' take on Donald Trump's VP pick JD Vance

"Trump-Vance, that's the ticket," commented Jesse Watters after the announcement. "Smart pick. JD is a self-made man, came out of the middle of nowhere in the steel town of Ohio, went to the Marines, (and) Yale. (He is a) great best-selling author, kind of like myself, and then is a venture capitalist but not a corporate guy."

"Also, (Vance) is probably going to eloquently wipe the floor with laffin' Harris," he continued, taking a dig at the current Vice President. "And very, very suave when it comes to mainstream media interviews- cool, calm and collected, and able to deliver the 'America first' punch in the mouth with class."

"So good ticket, going to be strong in the Mid-West. I think I smell a winning ticket," concluded Watters.

Internet disagrees with Jesse Watters' take on JD Vance

Netizens appeared to be unhappy with Donald Trump for announcing JD Vance as his running mate. They took to Facebook to express their opinion on the subject which varied wildly from Watters'.

"He brings nothing a useless person for the ticket," one person said about Vance.

"Worse pick possible," stated another.

"JD is crazier than Trump," noted a third.

"Weakest choice ... made for veep. The last thing he needed was yet another garden variety white male. The world has changed," commented a fourth.

"No way!! Vance is awful," quipped a fifth.
