WASHINGTON, DC: First Lady Jill Biden was captured telling off a reporter who confronted her about the growing voices in the Democratic Party asking her husband, President Joe Biden, to step out of the presidential race, in a video that went viral over the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, July 8.

Shared by Washington Post senior video journalist JM Rieger, the thirty-second clip shows the First Lady walking out from a coffee shop to her car when a female reporter's voice rings out, "Dr Biden, do you have any message to House Democrats who are calling for your husband to drop out of the race? How are you feeling about the state of the race?"

Stopping in her path, Jill Biden responds, "Why are you screaming at me? You know me. Don't scream at me, just let me talk," before turning around and leaving without answering any of the questions.

Jill Biden on campaign trail for President Biden

According to Fox News, Dr Biden made three campaign stops across as many states - North Carolina, Florida, and Georgia - to drum up support for President Biden's reelection campaign on Monday.

The busy schedule of the First Lady is part of ongoing efforts by the Biden administration to push back on growing concerns from media pundits as well as members of the Democratic Party itself that the incumbent does not possess the mental acuity to hold the top office for another term.

The concern has been growing since Biden's abysmal performance against presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump in the first presidential debate hosted in Atlanta by CNN on June 27. The incumbent spoke in an indiscernibly low voice and at times failed to finish his sentences as a result of losing his train of thought on stage, which sent his supporters into panic mode.

However, neglecting all opposing opinions, President Biden, along with his family, have insisted that he will stay in the race and face Trump in November.

Jill Biden stated in a rally in North Carolina, "As commander in chief, President Biden wakes up every morning ready to work for you. That's what this election is all about. You. For all the talk out there about this race, Joe has made it clear that he's all in."

President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden hosted the event titled “A Night When Hope and History Rhyme,” to “celebrate the unifying and healing power of music, commend the life and work of Sir Elton John, and honor the everyday history-makers in the audience, including teachers, nurses, frontline workers, mental health advocates, students, LGBTQ+ advocates and more.” (Photo by Alex Wong/Getty Images)

She is suggested as being the "ultimate influence" behind Biden's deciding to stay in the race, and as such, has been garnering increased media attention, including being featured on the cover of the August 2024 issue of Vogue.

Internet reacts as Jill Biden scolds reporter

Netizens slammed the First Lady for not responding to the reporter's questions, as the following tweets in response to the post demonstrate.

"She feeling the heat now and can't take it," wrote a user.

"She says let’s talk then walks away. Just as nutty as her husband," jibed another.

"What a mess," remarked a third.

"This is getting beyond bizarre," observed a fourth user.

"It's really something when the masks come off... isn't it?" inquired a fifth.
